When you go to start it do you squeeze the fuel bulb in the fuel line prior to start up at least until it feels solid? this is part of the prestart proceedure.. if not, the line has way too much air in it and needs purged before the unit is started.. now, the only other thing I can think of is a sheered flywheel key.. it will still fire but slightly or completely out of time..check these and repost findings..

Where is the light fuse on a 1995 lowe boat 30 hp evinrude

The light fuse on a 1995 Lowe boat with a 30 hp Evinrude outboard motor may be located in different places depending on the boat's wiring and electrical system. However, the most common location for the light fuse is in the boat's fuse panel or in-line with the light wiring near the switch. You can refer to the boat owner's manual or wiring diagram for specific details on the location of the light fuse. If you don't have access to the manual, you may need to inspect the boat's wiring system or consult a marine electrician to help locate the fuse.

Free download for repair manual for an Evinrude 1987 40HP outboard motor

My outboard motor is old and used. When I went to run it for the first time everything worked except when I went to put it in forward gear the boat went slowly but when I gave it more gas the engine just reved up but the boat wasn't going any faster. The motor is 40hp gale model.I think because it is bought used the prop is not the right one and it seems like it's slipping as I go faster.
I would appreciate any feedback on this problem.

1977 115 hp evinrude outboard water pump problem

Depending on the year motor, make sure the throttle is in the neutral position, drop the lower unit and the motor foot should come off, will probably take some wiggling and with the age of the motor, possibly a few light taps around the cavitation plate with a mallet would be helpful.
