Dell inspiron 6000 dead when connect power adeptor to laptop the led light on psu goes off is this mother board fault or psu.

If the led on the power supply turns off after connecting it to your laptop, the problem most likely lies with the power supply especially if the machine will run on battery power. This can be tested by

1. Turn the laptop off.

2. Remove the battery and power supply plug.

3. Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to reset the laptop.

4. Replace the power supply plug into the laptop without replacing the battery.

5. If the computer will not start and there are no lights turning on on the laptop the power supply is bad.

6. Replace the battery and attempt to start the machine both with and without the power supply plugged in.

How to keep your Laptop battery healthy and last long

Always remember to unplug the power main supply to the laptop when your laptop battery is full (100%) use unless your laptop say LOW battery only then power up the main supply in this way you can extend your laptops battery life.

Do not keep your laptop connected to main supply and work for longer time.

My acer aspire 6530 suddenly stopped charging the battery, it works with battery, works with battery and main power supply (yet, as long as the battery is still charged), and it certainly doesn't work with...

Seems like this is the case of a bad power supply adapter, and needs to be replaced. But to make sure we are on the right track, you mention towards the last statement, you said that when your laptop is off, and the battery is installed on, and without the power supply, the computer power button would flash and no sign of life right? Well take these step to see if it is the power supply, 1, check to see if the small green light is lighting from the powersupply adapter. If it is not, then 100% you have a bad power supply. 2, does the laptop power on when using the power adapter only, and with the battery pulled out? If not, then 85% still is your power supply and the other 15% is your power jack, either is loose, or bent, as we tend to plug in and out alot. 3, Does the laptop power on with the battery itself without the power supply adapter? If it does, it is not your battery. The reason to the laptop power light blinking with the battery installed only could be that the battery is low/drain and does not have issufiect charge to power up your laptop. And to say that when your system is on and your plug in the powersupply, and the small battery icon says it's charging but actually it is not. It could still be your powersupply, it is damaged but a smart chip installed on your powersupply only sending signal to your laptop, this chip is only to prevent the battery from over charging. So if you have another power supply, you cna test this out. But at this point, they was you described things, I believe it to be the power supply. I hope this help, if you have any question, let me know.

My laptop acer extensa 4420 5239 will not power on.The battery light goes green if i charged it fine. It seems that the switch is having a problem or might be the power supply. how would i know?. please...

Probably there is a problem with your battery charger or power supply. It might not charging your battery. The only reason why the laptop would not power on if there is no power supply coming in, either from a battery or a direct connection from the power supply. You can check your battery charger or power supply using a multimeter. Check if there is a voltage reading coming from your charger.

Power supply problems

Hello,

the problem is from the motherboard. One problem with toshiba laptop, is that they overheat too much.

Check if the fan of your laptop is working and make sure you keep your laptop where there is ventilation, so that air can enter into the laptop.

You could also open up the laptop, clean every dust on the motherboard and also the fan and cooler.

That's the area you should concentrate your attention on and not the battery or AC adapter.

Take care.

My laptop is not switcghing on

Is there enough charge on the battery? Does the problem occur when the AC/DC supply is plugged into the back of the laptop? The problem could lie with the battery, the power supply, or the motherboard. First, take the battery out of the laptop. It should be on the bottom of the laptop. Leave the battery out of the laptop. Next, plug the power supply into the laptop, and plug the power supply into a known working outlet. If the laptop comes on, then the problem lies with your battery. It will need replaced. If it doesn't come on, then it could be a bad power supply or motherboard. I would try a new power supply before replacing the motherboard.

Problem with the power supply or battery

This is a simple issue hopefully.

The battery is no longer able to charge.Buy a new one on www.ebay.com ($50-$75)

It could be also that the motherboard cannot charge it (less likely)

Toshiba p-200

try another wall outlet first. if it still doesn't turn on. then you going to need a meter in order for you determine if the power supply is at fault.
put the postive (red) lead to the positive side of the power supply output lead (+) and the negative to the negative. if your read 12V on the meter. the power supply is good.
if the power supply is good. then, take out the battery out of the laptop. push and hold the power button on the laptop for 20sec (resetting the laptop). replace the battery and the AC. if that don't work. then you have other power problem.

please email me (frcs68@hotmail.com) if any additional question you may have.

thank you
