Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Does a Hitachi SF6500PX drain pump need to be replaced with exact same, or can another be used? If so, do you know which are suitable? Can the old pump be overhauled?

Machine won't drain or spin. It will spin when completely drained. So it seems that the pump is the issue.

The most common cause of machines stopping mid cycle is not draining. Your machine should have a filter behind the kick plate at the bottom.
If this is not the case please post back for further assistance.

SOURCE: G.E. washing machine will not drain completely

It won't drain
If your washer won't drain, check these:

It spins, but doesn't pump
It doesn't spin or pump
It pumps, but the water returns

It spins, but doesn't pump
If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out.

To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port.

Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job.

If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump.

It doesn't spin or pump
If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it.

It pumps, but the water returns
If the water that pumps out of the machine goes back into the machine after the spin cycle, your washer may be siphoning the water from a laundry tub that has a slow drain, back into the washer. The usual remedy for this is to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is something stuck in the drain?) Also, check for these problems:

If the drain hose reaches more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub, cut off the excess.

If your drain hose is lower than the washer's cabinet, install an air gap/siphon break assembly.

good luck.....

How to remove the gas tank on a 2003 Dodge Stratus

On, master certified Dodge Man says: "Some newer Chrysler's actually have a drain plug on the bottom of the fuel tank, if so, it is as simple as removing it and catching it in a suitable pan, if not you could jump the fuel pump relay in the power distribution center, disconnect the fuel supply line and route into a suitable container before hand. This uses the vehicles fuel pump to drain the tank.
Always think safety, and have a fire extinguisher handy, don't try this in an enclosed area, due to flammable vapor buildup. "

Hitachi washing machine sf6500px washes ok but wont spin, digital signal says dE, does anyone know what that means please?

im not 100% on hitachi gear dont see alot where im from, but for most washing machines DE normally means the lid is open as they have small magnets in both the lid and frame of the washer, most machines will not begin to spin if the lid is not shut they will fill and wash but not spin purely as a safety precaution, if the lid is shut it means the lid (you may have a latch that actually locks the lid shut or just a reed switch magnet sensor that simply detects if its opened) reed switch or lid lock is broken or faulty normally pretty quick and easy to repair

Will not drain and go into final spin , removed waste pipe and drained it manually , then ran another wash and same thing happened

Seems that your pump may need replacing. remove bottom panel at back of machine. You now have access to your pump. Using suitable screwdriver or grips remove retaining clips on pump pipes. Tilt Machine forward and unscrew 2 screws holding pump in position. Then remove 2 wires that go to pump. Ensure machine is unplugged. The pump is an Ask

It stops before doing full spin with a code of .. OE

The OE code means that the pump is blocked. Follow your instruction book guidance which will tell you how to check and clear the blockage, access to the pump is usually via a small removable panel at the bottom front of the machine but without knowing which exact model you have I can offer no further specific guidance.

You'll need to drain the machine as much as possible before removing the actual pump cover and most LG washers have a small tube next to the pump cover which can be withdrawn and unplugged to allow the water to drain into a suitable receptacle.
