B200 error on a Canon Printer generally means a permanent failure of the print head caused by overheating (running out of ink and ignoring the message and printing further).
A costly mistake.
In the future, do not print after the first message to change an ink tank. Simply replace it as new heads are very pricey.

But a new head is still cheaper than a new printer, so if the rest of the printer/Scanner still works well (or I should say that it did before the B200 error, as that is a "show stopper!", and the printer will not operate further once this error is detected. Only a new head will restore the printer to working), buy a new head.

Sometimes the head is damaged, but no fault error is generated and the printer simply prints nothing on the paper, (or missing one colour or some Pixels and cleaning does not help), but thinks it is. I am sure that this is just that the fault detection is simply not sophisticated enough to detect some errors.

For example, it can detect a shorted head element, but not an open circuit problem for example!! Just guessing though!!

Canon keeps the actual reason for many errors secret, I personally do not know why.....this is one of those errors.....

By the way, second hand heads on ebay are generally a waste of time unless you can go there and test the head before buying, which is very unlikely.....Only buy Brand new Canon heads, with a guarantee and still sealed in the original bag, check at purchase time....from a reputable dealer.anon printers showing this error with

I have fixed several Canon printers with a new head. MG5xxx for example, but I cannot guarantee the fix for simply any printer, its only my limited experience that has been tested....

Best of luck.

SOURCE: What is service error B200?

According to Canon's documentation, this is simply listed as a printer error (not very descriptive). It is likely a hardware fault on a board; a physical hardware malfunction.
This is Canon's official stance on the error:

Turn off the machine, and unplug the power cord of the machine from the power supply. If the problem is not resolved, contact your Canon service representative.

After looking a bit more, I discovered that the B200 error is a Voltage High Error on the iP4500 chip. Try calling Canon tech support at 1-800-828-4040. If your printer is still under warranty, they will probably send you a new printhead or a new printer.

SOURCE: Error Code B200

Try keeping the paper only in the bottom tray (there's a tray in the bottom) Try pulling any paper out of the top and just close that top tray. Open up the head so that u can see the ink cartridges and turn the printer on and off and maybe it will center itself again. If it's still not working (even if lights aren't red and print head wont align in the center) try manually moving the head back and forth like 18 times so you can lubricate that rail in the back that's holding it. After that, re-turn it off and on again.

SOURCE: I can not do anything on my printer. When I turn

That error code is not listed on the known error codes for that model. Something to try is to turn off the machine, unplug the power cord from the power supply for five minutes. Plug the cord back in and turn on the machine. Give that a try and see if that fixes your problem. Otherwise I would suggest contacting Canon customer support at 1-800-OKCANON. Take care & good luck!

WHAT TO DO WHEN I HAVE AN ERROR CODE B200. i CANNOT PRINT AS THE MESSAGE IS CONTACT YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER. IS THERE A WAY I CAN FIX IT MYSELF////

Hi Kathleen,

to clear the Canon B200 error code:

Steps for 4+ Cartridge Printers
  1. Remove All Cartridges. Do whatever is necessary to remove the individual ink cartridges from your printer. In most cases this will be opening the lid of your printer and waiting for the cartridge cradle to move into the correct position.
  2. Remove the Printhead. This is easily achieved in most printers by simply lifting the orange/gray locking lever on the side of the cartridge cradle and then gently lifting the printhead from the printer.
  3. Reinstall the Printhead. Gently put the printhead back into your Canon Pixma printer and lock it into position firmly.
  4. Reinstall All Cartridges. Place all of the cartridges back into the printer and close any open doors. This makes sure that your printer is actively examining the reinstalled cartridges and printhead.
  5. Unplug the Printer. Physically remove your printers plug from the wall and leave it unplugged for 5+ minutes. This allows the printhead to cool and all residual electricity to leave the printer.
  6. Plug the Printer Back.
  7. Do a Nozzle Check or Cleaning Cycle. The B200 error does not tend to occur until your printer actively tries to use the printhead. As such I recommend performing one of these processes in an attempt to confirm the correct cartridge has been replaced.
Steps for 2 Cartridge Printers
  1. Turn the Printer off. When your printer is in this error state it will not let the cartridge cradle within the printer move. However resetting the printer should clear the error message temporarily allowing us to troubleshoot further.
  2. Turn the Printer Back on Again.
  3. Remove the Problem Cartridge. Whilst the Canon Pixma error messages do not tend to specify which cartridge is causing the problem, you should be able to have a rough idea based upon which cartridge was last replaced.
  4. Install a Replacement Cartridge. As the printhead is part of the cartridge, sadly there is no way to stop the B200 error without replacing the cartridge. I would recommend either installing a new cartridge or a previously used cartridge that you know to be functional.
  5. Do a Nozzle Check or Cleaning Cycle. The B200 error does not tend to occur until your printer actively tries to use the printhead. As such I recommend performing one of these processes in an attempt to confirm the correct cartridge has been replaced.
  6. If Necessary Replace the Other Cartridge. If the error persists with the new cartridge, it may be that the other cartridge has developed a fault and is the cause of the B200 support code. If at this point the error remians I can only recommend replacing the other cartridge.
