Asus g50 has no boot mgr, and when i try to reload windows it wont recognize any hdd?
I was using my asus laptop, and it froze. I hard restarted, and it came up with a black screen after setup that says no boot mgr. I tried to relaod windows to fix it but can get it to recognize a hdd. I tried using a external, which windows recognizes but will not load to. I installed the external onto either of the two ports but cannot get the cpu to recognize at all.
Re: asus g50 has no boot mgr, and when i try to reload...
Try booting in safe mode first.
Start your PC and as soon as it starts, keep pressing the F8 key continuously. If a screen comes up with an option to start in safe mode, go to that option. If you can boot to that option, go to start-type in system and look for system restore. Click on that and follow the instructions.
If you can't do that then look here:
Testimonial: "I have utilzed all the above metioned methods but none work. Yes it booted to safe mode, but only if i had the windows install disk in. When propted for a system recovery it was unable to complete. Same was said for the command prompt method as well. I tried to bypass the recovery all together and just reinstall an entire new os, but the cpu wont recognize any hdd to partition to when I do."
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

If you set the bios to boot from USB. Place your USB Bootable stick into the USB socket and boot from it.
Windows will find the hdd and format it before putting Windows on it.
What has happened is the hdd name is missing from the system and it requires initializing before you can see it.
To Go to BIOS turn on the NoteBook and Keep Pressing F2 and you will enter the BIOS set up. Search for Hard Drive Test Option from the Menus If the Test Passes then you need to Reload the Windows OS or if the Test Fails you need to get a New HDD
Try running a Boot disc, like Hiren's Boot disk and go to Mini Windows XP and see if it locks up, if not then prolly have to reload the OS again do a repair install to fix it, more than likely a corrupted sys file, and if it does lock up prolly a internal issue, check your HDD/Memory/CPU cooling Fan may be full of dust, blow it out thre the cooling slots on the side with Canned air or Air hose at 60PSI to prevent fan blades from breaking. Hope this helps.
Most of the time, the machine booting with the blinking cursor
indicates a problem with the HDD itself.
You can do the
1) Reseat the HDD 2) Check BIOS boot
order and see if the HDD is still recognized at BIOS level 3) Load
the BIOS defaults (F1 at boot, then F9, F10) 4) If the HDD is
detected at BIOS, try to access Rescue and Recovery on the HDD (F11 key
at boot) and try to reload Windows. 5) If problems persist, I'd
highly recommend replacing the HDD!!
you need to enter a boot disk/recovery disk/windows xp disk into your CD drive and in the system BIOS select the CD drive to boot first. Once the CD has loaded you can re-format your HDD to NTFS and re-install windows
You will, however loose all your data but your HDD will function again with windows
U DONT NEED A RECOVERY DISC TO FORMAT YOUR HDD ALL U NEED IS THE WINDOWS DISC U WILL USE TO LOAD WINDOWS THAN START YOUR COMPUTER UP BUT WITH YOUR CD ROM TO BOOT UP FIRST U WILL THAN HAVE TO VERIFY IF U WANT TO UPGRADE YOUR SYSTEM WILL CHECK IF WINDOWS WAS INSTALLED BEFORE AND ASK U DO U WANT TO FORMAT AND YOU WILL SPECIFY YES DELETING ANY OTHER PATITIONS
