You would think a radio as versatile as yours would be able to tune to a specific frequency but you are experiencing one of the shortcomings of digital tuners. Some radios allow selection of 9 KHz or 10 Khz channel spacing on AM but that is not the answer for your particular problem.

DEH-P7900 BT US model. Isthere any way I could change the tuner frequency to european one. Thanks.

The DEH-P7900BT is almost identical to the DEH-P85BT sold in Europe.

This is a US model and will tune most AM/FM stations in the UK/Europe. The FM broadcast band is 87.8 to 108.0 MHz. so it will not pick up any FM stations outside this range. Also, the tuning is in odd increments (such as 96.1, 96.3, 96.5, etc.) so some stations with even frequencies will be slightly distorted, depending on the power of the signal the station generates.

I found this bit of info for you but ill keep looking and let you know what i find out.
Also have you tried it in europe to see if it does work or not let me know ok

I just bought the RCA CD/DVD home theater system RTD206. I cant figure out how to change the radio channels. Also cant figure out how to change the cd disk tracks. Does this system have a remote. Or do...

The system does have a remote (at least it should come with one if purchased new), and you need it to control pretty much everything. Here's what the manual says about the radio tuner (you can find the whole manual here) :

Manual Tuning
1. Connect the FM aerial and the AM loop antenna at the back of the unit. Rotate the AM loop for
better reception.
2. Press TUNER to enter TUNER mode and toggle between FM and AM.
3. When the FM station broadcasts Stereo sound, ST is displayed.
4. Tune a station by pressing repeatedly the TUNER+/- buttons until the desired station is found.
Alternatively, you can press and hold the same buttons down for about one second to activate
the automatic search function. In this mode the player will automatically tune frequencies until
it finds a station.
5. Repeat step 4 to tune to another radio station.

Storing radio stations
The player can store up to 30 radio stations in its memory. You can enter every single radio station
yourself or the player can store all available radio stations automatically in ascending order.
Automatic preset programming
1. Press TUNER to enter the Tuner mode.
2. Press and hold TUNER down for 3 seconds to start automatic preset programming.
Note: A weak signal can affect the "Automatic preset programming" function's efficiency. Adjust the aerial for better
reception and a more efficient search.
3. Radio frequencies will be browsed and radio stations stored automaitcally. When all the available
radio stations are stored or all 30 memory locations are full, the auto preset programming
function will stop.

Manual preset
1. Tune to a radio station (see "Manual tuning" for details).
2. Press MEMORY once to enter flashing Preset Loaction number.
3. While the Preset Location number is still flashing, input your desired preset number (1-30) using
the numeric buttons or press the CH+/- buttons, then press MEMORY to store it.

Retrieving preset stations
1. Press TUNER to enter the Tuner mode.
2. Press CH+/- to search up or down for the preset stations or directly press the numeric buttons.

As you see, you really need that remote. The same is true for disc play. While there are front panel buttons for play/stop, disc skip, and drawer open/close, you don't have any other control without the remote. Without the remote control you'll find this system won't do too much, unfortunately. If you bought this new, check the packing material before you throw it away to make sure the remote's not still somewhere in the box. They often come tucked into slots on the foam inserts.

Also, when you hook the unit to a TV, it's just using the TV as a video display device. The TV has nothing to do with any of the system's other functions.

I hope you have luck locating the remote! Thanks for using Fixya.

Select AM Band station in increments less than 10

Well that's strange one.. I know that the European segments are stepped even on FM and odd in US but was not aware about the AM band... Well anyway if it's anywhere to be found it would be in the set-up menu, disguised too!! I can tell you in Alpine decks it is Area 1 for US and Area 2 for the rest and in Panasonic I am drawing a blank but i think it is adjustable but i believe only on the higher up models. good luck let me know... mark

Magnum 257 6 digit display

To tune frequencies in either 10 kHz or 100 kHz increments,
press the STEP button until the desired digit is
flashing. Rotate the FREQUENCY control in either direction.
The entire frequency range of the Magnum 257
can be stepped through in 10 or 100 kHz increments.
To tune in 1 kHz increments, press the STEP button
until the 1 kHz digit flashes on and off. Rotate the FREQUENCY
control. NOTE: When stepping in 1 kHz increments,
you are limited to tuning within a 10 kHz
frequency range.

Am reception

I've used this radio for years.  It's a direct replacement for Porsche cars up to about 1998.  Installation is easy and make sure to get the iPod connection cable.  It's an assessory.
About AM yes there's the 9kHz vs 10KHz, but frankly here in LA it gets better AM reception than the JBL in my new Prius.  The only problem is you can't buy it in NA.  Getting it from the EU is a pain.  But it's worth it

Tuning steps/increments

Hi Benimur thanks,

What kind of mod would you be talking about and also the problem would be what part of uk hes going to that is if it is the uk hes planing on going.

Adjusting the firmware would change the frequency but is their that firmware out their for his make/model

Also what ive tried on my own stereos car and house is that fishermans frequence is like you say its 95.1 and 95.3 so its going up in .2 in odd incremants so what i tried on my stereos is the nearest frequency possible for uk stations ok.
So in uk one of our main stations is
radio 1 at 97.9 this station would be spot on
and brmb at 96.4
so if its going up in .2 incremants then 96.4 closest one on his would be 96.3 or 96.5 witch i tried and you can get this station and wont notice any bad signal even at high volume.
So for the range to be out by only .1 then i cant see their being a problem.

Even on DAB radios using manual tune instead of auto still picks up the stations with no problems.

So if your sure his stereo goes up in 95.1 and 95.3 then he should have no problems as the output from the stations is high.

Also radio 1 our main station in uk is 97.9 so his should pick up this station with no problems at all.
But please tell me if im wrong about his frequency as ive only worked with uk based systems witch are the same as europe .
Do you understand what im trying to get across.
If you think its going to cause loads of problems by being out by .1 then let me know.
If you think it wouldnt be a major problem then also let me know.

Ill wait till i here from you before i get back to fisherman as i dont want to give him information that would be no use to him ok.

Please let me know either way ok thanks and speak soon

Tuning DAB radio

Just bought the same unit but the instruction manual was double dutch. After messing around for a while I managed to do it like this. Whe the unit is set to DAB, Press the Sel+/TU+ or the Sel-/TU- button on the unit (not the remote) until the DAB station displays and then press the Select CH+ button again on the unit. Wait a few seconds while the word "tuning" is displayed and that station should now play. To save the station as a preset do this. When the station is playing use the remote and press the PRG/MEM button once. Then press the number for which preset you want that station to be. The station will be saved. EG to save Radio 1 as Preset station 1, play Radio 1, Press PRG/MEM, then press number 1. After that whenever you press number 1 on the remote Radio 1 will play. Do the same with any other station you wish to save. To save station 10 press the 0/10 button on the remote. To save station 11 press 10+ then 1, 12 is 10+ the 2 etc. Good luck Dopeyemma
