SOURCE: LG RZ-26LZ50 LCD Television-Solid Black line down the right had side of the screen

It's the driver tabs that operate that section of the panel. To have them repaired/replaced can be very expensive and is normally just replaced completely as a whole panel (at least while under warranty). If it is out of warranty, then get a few quotes over the phone. This will help dramatically when you explain to your wife that you are about ot go shopping to buy a new TV.

I find things like "Have I told you how good you look today" help when this process is taking place.

Sorry for the bad news.

As soon as you take the back off the set, the t-con board is located at the top middle of the set under some shielding.

SOURCE: I have the common "color contouring" problem (red

The T-CON board get the power from the logic board switched transistor that supplies the voltage to the T-CON board. Check to see if the 12vdc feeding the T-CON board is clean voltage and not higher than 12vdc. The problem can also be the logic board which sends the signals to the T-CON board. Does cooling the T-CON board with electronic freeze spray make the problem goes away. Some of the work I have to do is to install a small DC fan to keep the T-CON board cool and some time using heat sinks.

It could either be the T-con(AKA LCD controller) or its the LCD panel. It cannot be anything else. So you should give the T-con a try and chances are it can fix the set.

What causes a Blue Vertical Stripe on left side

Can be the t con board or the lcd panel. its only possible to finalise by replacing the t con board. Before going for a new t con board try to check the connections from t con to lcd panel. if its possible remove and reconnect it. sometime bad contact can cause such problems. Also added a link which would be help full for you.

Every day when I first turn on my LG HDTV model 42LH30 it has the left side completely black but the right side seems normal with a distinct center vertical line. After a few minutes the left side gets...

LCD TVs are side lit with either cathode tubes or LED's (depending on the model). This saves space and allows the TV's to be so thin. The newer LED TV's are backlit, so there is an array of LED behind the screen, but because your model is side lit, most likely with a cathode tube, that the tube is on it's way out and takes an excessive amount of time to warm up and get to full brightness. You culd try looking up a part number through LG, but my guess would be it's expensive and not easily replaced. Perhaps contact a local electronics store to see if they ofer repair service and see how much it costs versus buying a new tv.
