Perhaps the transmision is jammed at the motor side

did you check it
does it still have a good thru drive without play
you need to check that something hasnt crunched up inside it
if the motor smells its either jammed or gets jammed
or cant run
its getting juce but jammed
perhaps a bad bearing etc some gear gone wrong

check out this repair clinc link i found
its quite good and has some video

perhaps it is a burned capacitor
these motors seem a sealed up unit so perhaps a look inside the motor and also the transmission can find more for you than replacing the controller board
{usually the last to go as they are well protected to protect you with fuses and links etc}

    Thank you for your response, I tried moving the belt from under, and it does spin the agitator. So it's not the tranmission? Is it the motor then? Can it be anything else? Thank you again!

Motors have start capicitors to help it get going, when they go bad your motor will not spin unless you help it spin.

Testimonial: "thank you, the agitator spins if I move the belt underneath by hand. What could be the problem? Is it the motor?"

I have an Kenmore 70 series washer. It would not Spin or Agiate so after looking to the internent for help I found it may be the washer coupling. I replaced this part, but now it won't spin, agitate or...

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.########) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Also see the Whirlpool / Kenmore Service manual for top load, direct drive washers:

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

Are you sure that you plugged the Lid Switch back in when you put the cabinet back on??

If the switch is connected, I'd also pull the cabinet again and make sure that the Motor coupler is installed correctly. If it isn't, it could be broken again and the washer wouldn't agitate or spin.

Are you sure you connected the motor?

MY MAYTAG NEPTUNE MODEL FAV6800AWQ KEEPS DISPLAYING THE LETTERS OP

You have lost signaling thru the Left Hand lid Lock. The washer has not see the lid go closed thru the signaling with the magnetic reed relay in the Left Hand Lid Lock.

You could have a Lid Magnet out of position or severe corrosion. You can place a large magnet over the Left bumper like this and see if the OP error code clears;

See this post for troubleshooting the OP error code Left Hand Lid Lock Troubleshooting I go over OD error code troubleshooting but you troubleshoot the issue the same way for the OP error code.

If the Lid Magnet is not out of position you may have an open circuit thru the Magnetic Reed Relay as shown in the Pics of this link Left Hand Lid Lock Troubleshooting.
The p/n for the Left Hand Lid Lock is 25001048

Why does it say "op" when i press the start button?

The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

I feel you have lost signaling from the Left Hand Lid Lock for Lid is Open/ Lid is Closed.

First check is to place a magnet over the Left Hand grey bumper and while watching the LED display see if the OP error code clears. If it does you have a lid magnet out of position. See the Service Manual for access to the Lid Magnet.

See Pic;

ba0e933.jpg
If an external magnet over the Left Hand grey bumper doesn’t clear the OP error code with the lid open then See this Link for troubleshooting Left Hand Lid Lock Troubleshooting. I discuss the OD error code but the OP error code troubleshooting is very similar. If the lid Magnet is not out of position then I feel you have a broken lead at the Magnetic Reed relay or severe corrosion issues with the Left Hand Lid Lock preventing Lid Open/Lid Closed status signaling to the Control Board in the Console.

The washer is stuck locked. When turned on it shows OP where the minutes are!! PLEASE HELP !!

Don’t force the lid open and break the lid locks.

Here is the Service Manual and parts look up;

FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

Use this procedure for releasing the washer top from the base;

Un plug the 120VAC power cord to the washer.

To raise the top of the machine. Insert a flat blade putty knife approximately 2.5” from the left and right sides of the washer top, depress the spring tabs securing machine top to the washer base. See page 33 of the SM for putty knife insertion point.

Here is the pic from page 33.c4f9327.jpg

This will get the clothes out.

With the washer top raised gently push to Left and Right lid lock latches to outside of the lid the unlock position.

You can now lower the washer top to the base.

Do you want to DIY the OP error code?

The OP error code could be caused by a Lid Magnet out of position. To do a quick check with the lid open power up the washer. Do you have the OP error code showing? If so take a large magnet and place it over the grey left lid bumper and see if the OP error code will clear the LED display. A Pic for reference;

If that doesn’t clear the OP error code we would need to do deeper troubleshooting. Are you up for that? Let me know……Rich

Hi,
The problem will be in the main board or the spinning coil may be short circuited, You can easily check the motor during the spinning process you will find the humming noise if you do not found any humming noise kindly replace the board

Getting "OP" on screen & will not start. Help

OP Error code for the FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW;
You have lost signaling from the left lid lock to the control board. The lid magnet could be out of position here is a quick check to try. Raise the lid then press Spin Only key, press on and you should throw the OP alarm to the console. With the lid open place a magnet on the left bumper as shown in this pic. If the OP alarm fails to clear we rule out the lid magnet as out of position.

Next step is to raise the washer top as shown on page 34 of the Service Manual

The
Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

To raise the top of the machine insert a flat blade putty knife approximately 2.5” from the left and right sides of the washer top, depress the spring tabs securing machine top to the washer base. See page 33 of the SM for putty knife insertion point.

Disconnect the washer power cord. We can try to reseat the Left Lid Lock a couple of times to see there is there is corrosion causing a issue. Removing the plug is difficult so be careful. See page 34 of the SM, the plug you are going to reseat is shown in the pic on page 34 next to the tech’s thumb in that pic. After reseating a few times power up the machine try a Spin Only cycle, close the lid and hit the on button and see if the left lid lock is signaling the control board that the lid is closed. If you still take the OP alarm then it’s time to remove the left lid lock and inspect for corrosion or a broken wire on the magnetic reed relay. Some owners have found that corrosion has caused the soldered lead ends on the on the magnetic reed relay to break off. They can be soldered back on. See pic’s for corrosion issues and the lead that has broken off the magnetic reed relay.

Check rhat the red and black wire on the magnetic reed relay have not broken as seen by this photo see balcl wire.

Follow the SM to remove the left lid lock be careful when you release the tabs on the left lid lock case halves for inspection they break of very easy. Post back if you still need help. If you need to replace the left lid lock here is the part number 25001048 and a link, another. Good luck. Post back if you have questions.
