Sounds like the On Charger setting for power has been changed to power save. if you right click on the battery icon in the taskbar, it will pop-up with several options, including power settings.

SOURCE: Touch Pad.

Make sure it is not deactivated in the "Control Panel" under "Mouse".

Some laptops have a little button at the top of the mousepad, press that to make sure it is not toggled off.

If you do those things and is still doesn't work. Go to the manufacturers website and download the touchpad driver for your specific model of laptop.

Go into the device manager (right-click computer, click manage, and select device manager)
Look for "Mice and other pointing devices"
Disable it,
Then uninstall it.
Next, install the driver you downloaded from your manufacturer.
then in the "Control Panel" select "Add Hardware"
It should then find the touchpad and install the newest driver you just installed.

Let me know if this helps or not,
Simon.

SOURCE: touch pad failed.

Look along the top of the keyboard for an "f key" that shows a "touch pad" icon, IF you see it, press the "function key" (along the bottom of the keyboard) PLUS at the same time the "f key" (that you found along the top) and that should "toggle" the touch pad back on....
Also, IF you plug in a USB mouse that will allow you to move the cursor around--but the USB mouse doesn't fix your touch pad problem.
Hope this helps.

Why does my touchpad on a acer aspire e11 keep freezing?

The touch pad might be faulty. Try to reboot the laptop after cleaning touch pad with a clean damp cloth. If nothing happens then the sensors under the touch pad could be faulty.

Laptop mousepad doesn't work correctly

If it is a new Laptop then I'll not suggest you to open it for cleaning because you'll void the warranty period. You can check for the latest touch pad driver and update it once. it may help you.

My left click and tapping on lenovo touch pad is not working?

The touchpad has failed on you. This is uncommon but it happens. If it were just the touch pad sometime you can just clean them and they work. With a button not working then it is more serious. A new touch pad assembly is worth about $35 for most laptops. The problem is the case needs to be split to replace it. This isn't a big job for a experienced tech. Should be no more than a half hour charge. If you are comfortable with doing things this is something you can do. If you search for laptop repair parts for parts web store you can usually find pictorial or even video howto's on replacing this. Most laptops come apart the same so don;t worry if you can't find your laptop model right away. Just look to see if you think you can do this. Then you can decide if you want to do it or get a tech to.

Laptop Touch Pad will not work

if you plug usb keyboard onto your laptop it will probably turn the touch pad off.
If no other keyboard is attached there is usually a switch to turn off the touch pad.
also if you attach a mouse this may disable the touchpad so you dont move the mouse pointer when you are typing

Kenmore elite microwave touch screen stopped working

Same thing happened to us. We just came back from Sears, where we bought another. Just for giggles, my wife suggested unplugging the old one and plugging it back in again. It works now. New one's going back to the store.
