Want to swipe clean and change password for samsung tablet

You can change your Fire tablet's lock screen password or PIN directly from Manage Your Content and Devices.

1. Manage Your Content and Devices, and then select Your Devices.
2. From the list of devices registered to your Amazon account, select your Fire tablet.
3. Select the Device Actions drop-down menu, and then select Remote Lock.
4. Enter and then confirm a new password or PIN, and then select Lock Device.
5. From your Fire tablet, tap Unlock Device.
6. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen to unlock your device. Enter your lock screen password or PIN, and then tap OK.

Someone installed a password, so until you either perform a factory reset of the tablet to clear the password or remember the password you are kinda sunk. A reset will erase all stored data except what was loaded by the factory.

I don't know anything about a Samsung tab

Browse the setup parameters, you should find the answer there (or in the manual...).

The password is case sensitive, are you entering it correctly?

Turn swipe on in keyboard settings (Settings/System/Language and Input).

On a tablet you move ahead by swiping the screen with a finger or with a stylus. If and when you use an app the requires text input, a virtual keyboard will pop up on the tablet's screen.
