The activation source switching mechanism may have frozen in the ON position. If you cannot turn it off when pressing the on/off button; the it is stuck ON. Since the ON/OFF is part of the Circuit Board, it cannot be repaired by itself. What you can do is just leave the bulb in the socket and unscrew it (leaving it partway in the socket) until it goes out.

SOURCE: My GE range and oven won't go on but the oven

Sounds like you are only getting 120 volts to the range. If your house has fuses, check for one of the 50 amp ones out. Best if you have a way of testing voltage. Could be a loose / poor electrical connection at the range power recepticle where the cord plugs in, or where the cord connects to the range. Of course it could be in the range wiring or possibly in the range control, but that is not as likely. Get a voltage meter and find out where you are loosing the other half of your 240 volts.

Over the Range Light Stopped Working

It is a good chance that the bulb (s) have burned out. I would think they would last longer than that but things are not as good as they used to be. Unplug the microwave before removing the bulbs. Especially if they are the screw in type. GE usually has two bulbs in there and they could be the halogen type that just plug in or the screw in type.

JBP82 My oven does not heat up or stops at 350. I don't see the bottom element heating up.

CHECK THE ELEMENT MANNY TIMES WHEN IT BURNS OUT YOU CAN SEE A BUMP OR BURN MARK ON THE ELEMENT. OR REMOVE POWER TO STOVE THEN REMOVE THE SCREWS THAT HOLD THE ELEMENT IN PULL IT SLOWLY AWAY FROM THE BACK WALL AND DISCONECT THE WIRES. YOU CAN USE A OHM METER TO CHECK IT IF ITS OPEN ITS BAD.

No heat at burners or oven

check your fuse / breaker box make sure you have power (sounds like you dropped a leg of power) make sure breakers/fuse is on/good flip it to off the to on if oven don't work then take a look at the cord to the range check power at the wall then open where cord goes into range check power or you may even find the cord burnt in there if so replace all damaged wires good luck
