Has it been sitting? Has the gas been sitting? I'm sure the carb is all clogged and gummed up with stale gas and dried ethanol. Buy a new carb, GCV160 carbs are like $20 shipped on eBay.

SOURCE: my 14SB John Deere mower will start but then quits

Hello. You have some winter buildup in your engine. Get a can of starter fluid and a helper. have the helper shoot small squirts of starter fluid into the air filter while you run the mower. In just a couple of minutes the starter fluid will clear your problem. Joe

SOURCE: I have a brand new TB250 21" self propelled mower

Hi jb--
Since you have already added oil and gas, and this is a new mower, see if you can locate the 'dead man' switch on the mower. There should be a handle on the mower that must be held down when you try to start the mower. It will follow the shape of the larger handles, just about a third of the size: you can see it in the picture you used for this post. Attached to it is usually a cable that actuates a braking mechanism that will stop the mower's flywheel from turning. This handle will swing down against the handlebars of your mower before and then during normal operation. Try holding this safety down and try to pull again.
--Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I've inherited an older Victa 2 stroke 80 mower.

Hi anastasialou...

Sounds like you have dirt/debris in your carburetor jets, fuel passages or a diaphgram that is becoming non-flexible.
Be sure to check your fuel tank for water and dirt/debris, if there is water/debris then you need to clean your tank.
Also check you fuel line condition after a while they will degrade and need replacment.
Make sure you are getting spark at the spark plug, to do this:
Remove your spark plug and check to be sure you are getting fire at the spark plug.
You do this by grounding the plug on the head of the engine and pulling the crank rope, if you are getting spark then:
Check/Clean/Replace your fuel filter if you have one, normally they are located in the fuel tank of weedeaters.
When you remove your fuel lines from the carburetor be sure to make a drawing to how the lines are connected to the carburetor.
Normally the big line will be the line the fuel filter is connected to inside of the tank. The smaller of the two lines is the return to the fuel tank from the carburetor after it is pumped thru the carburetor by the primer bulb.
Also make sure you are using fresh fuel...and oil mix if your using a two cycle mower or weedeater with the oil to the right mixture and not too much oil as it can cause hard starting.
If the mower/weedeater is over a couple of years old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
Sounds like you will need to clean the carburetor or replace your carburetor internal rubber parts like the diaphgram and O rings.
I recommend that you use a laquer thinner type cleaner to clean and dissolve the laquer build-up in the float and needle jet passages.
Be sure to remove all plastic and rubber parts before using the laquer thinner because it can dissolve the plastic parts and render them unuseable.
Be sure to use compressed air to blow out all the fuel and air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Keep in mind that the float (if you have one) for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instructions you get with the carburetor kit.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their orginal position before you started.
Once you have your carburetor rebuilt that should solve your problem.

I have a brand new easy start stihl 50 whipper snipper it came already fuelled it kicked over then died and now wont start or kicks and dies any thoughts

Try turning the choke off after it tries to start. This is a first for me. I have never ever heard of any type of yard implement, chain saw, mower, weed trimmer, etc that came brand new with fuel( gas mixture) in it or in the package. The fuel mixture for this trimmer I beleive is 50:1. Is that correct? This means that for one gallon of gas, 2,56 ounces of two cycle oil is added to the gas.

Mixed 2 stroke oil with gas, won't turn over.

A two stroke fuel oil mix in the engine will not hurt it, it may smoke a little but thats all, i would suggest there is somthing else wrong with it other than the fuel oil mix that he used. a new plug would not hurt incase there is some carbon fouling from the oil.

Is a Victa Sunbeam 160 Special a 2 stroke or 4 stroke? Wondering what additive to use with fuel. Thanks so much for your help.

hi there tanyajames88

your victa is a 2 stroke vc160 these units sare stated to run 25:1 fuel / oil ratio

that is 40 mils of 2 stroke for every 1.0 litre of petrol that mix

so if mixing 2 litres - 1st put in 80 mils of good quality 2 stroke oil then put in 2 litres of petrol , give good shake and fill up your mower tank

2 stroke oil that you would use for sthil chainsaw would be ok its hi quality

you could use some fuel stabilizer additive to hekp stop mix from going stale too soon
if wish but most times just mix enoyugh mix to het job done , then mix more if need it

that way mix is always fresh

Location of oil filter and what kinda of oil on a 2003 Honda CR125R 2-stroke

G'day.
There is no oil filter in a two stroke. Your bike has two types of oil for the engine.

In the gearbox, it uses a light viscosity 2 stroke motorcycle gearbox oil.

Then you have the oil that you pre-mix with your fuel(to lubricate the top-end & crankshaft bearings).

Oil for your bike is best purchased from a motorcycle shop- this is a racing bike that requires race type maintainance.
The better the maintainance the longer it will last.
Things like,
Keep the chain lubricated.
Keep the air filter clean & oiled correctly with propper air filter oil(this is REALLY important).
Use high octaine fuel-(if in Australia like me-no ethanol fuel- 98 octaine).
Use the best quality 2 stroke oil you can afford-preferably full-synthetic.
Here is a link to parts fishes(exploded diagrams) for your bike.
These will help you see all the parts & gives a good idea on what goes where.Click on the part name & it will show you a picture. : )

I have a VICTA V160 (LS) Power Torque - 2-stroke engine... I don't have the user guide... What fuel do I use? Do I add engine oil to the fuel and how much?

Use unleaded fuel. Do not add engine oil to the fuel, you must use 2 stroke oil to add to the fuel at a ratio of 25 to 1, which is 200mls of oil to 5 litres of fuel. Regards Phil

How do i tell a victa 2 stroke from a 4 stroke?

two stroke mowers will have a picture of a oil can on the fuel cap,if it doesn't it is most likely a four stroke.
four stroke mowers will have a fuel cap and a oil cap as well.

I accidently put two stroke gas in the fuel tank and ran it a few seconds, then it quit. Drained the fuel and added new fuel, but will only run a few seconds?

hi because you ran engine and it stopped/failed to restar although you renewed fuel which was 2 stroke ? the wrong fuel will be in carb's float chamber and probably ran engine eventually oiled plug may i suggest you clean plug then clean carb out remove main jet and idle and blow them clear so you can see thro them refit and fill f/chamber to 3/4 full then re assemble carb should start then

Victa 2 stroke mower will not start

It may have a blown crankcase seal. How did you check the plug for spark?
you can remove the carbi and spray 2 stroke fuel directly into the chamber and try to start it.
If it starts you have a problem with the carbi or the fuel supply.
Take out the air filter as it may be blocked and restricting the air supply.
The float in the carbi may be full of fuel due to a hole in it or the fine fuel filter in the carbi may be blocked
