You can't if you didn't install any of recovery packages (like CWM or TWRP). To recover you'd have to use DOWNLOAD mode with Odin.

SOURCE: recoverymode malfunction

I hope you have bricked up your phone. Just use ODIN, download stock rom zip packages, put phone in download mode, plus USB, load rom files in ODIN, flash the update and then it will work. (Actually it worked for me).

Tip

Booting Most Android into Recovery Mode (Hard Resetting)

Usually you can boot into recovery mode by following these steps:

  • Turn off you device.
  • Then, reboot by pressing the Power and Volume Up buttons simultaneously.
  • Keep the buttons pressed for a short while - a few seconds - and then release the same.
  • The recovery mode menu should be displayed.
  • Note: on Samsung branded devices the recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Power, Volume Up and Home buttons at the same time.
But if the procedure from above isn't working for your Android device, then use one of the following methods (the first one is for rooted handsets so be careful and try not to mess things up as you can end up in bricking your smartphone / tablet).

Do a factory reset. This will erase all internal data though.
Switch phone off. Press and hold volume up button and then switch on. Should get a menu which allows factory reset. Use volume and on buttons to navigate menu.

If it's totally unusable, you may have to do factory reset. But first try cleaning cache from recovery mode.

I don't know exact model of your phone so I post a link for you where you find how to enter recovery mode.

Rooted Huawei Vitria is boot stuck on metro logo screen. need recovery flash

Try searching XDA or AndroidAuthority for the recovery image you need. I assume you rooted it, but if not: To flash the recovery you need to enter recovery mode, usually this is done by holding "Volume Down" & "Power" at the same time until the logo appears, then release the "Volume Down" button. Once in recovery if it's not a touch recovery, you use the volume keys to navigate up and down, and the power button to accept your selection. Just click the option that says to install from zip, then choose your zip file for the recovery and you're golden.

How do i get to recovery mode

Apart from the messy key combination, you can enter into recovery mode with help of android app onto your device. Just download "Quick boot" from Google play store and install it.
Open the downloaded app, you will see 4 options, Reboot, Recovery, Boot-loader, and Power Off. Just tap Recovery and your device will reboot in recovery mode automatically.
