Still cant get it to recognize boot device. Or exit setup

This issue is often caused by either an incorrect setting in CMOS Setup or a bad boot device, such as a bad hard drive.

1. Verify your boot options are properly set in CMOS setup. We recommend having the CD or disc drive as your first boot device and then hard drive as the second boot device.
2. If your CMOS Setup has an option to boot from the LAN disable this option.
3. If you have changed any CMOS settings, make sure to save and reboot the computer.

If this does not resolve the issue, try resetting the CMOS values to the default settings, save and exit.
Finally, if none of the above suggestions resolve this error go through the Invalid or Non System Disk error troubleshooting steps, which is related to this error message.

My suggestion would be to go into BIOS Setup, and in Boot Options; change the first boot device to CDROM.

Computer off. (Press the Power On button in for a count of 10 seconds, or until computer turns off)

AS SOON AS you press the Power On button, start tapping on the F10 key.
Tap in 2 second intervals.
If you hear beeps ignore them. They are Stuck Key Error Code beeps, and it is You that is doing it. (It's OK)

Takes a few seconds, then you should be looking at the Main menu, in BIOS Setup,

You CANNOT use your mouse anymore. You need to use the Keyboard.

Use the Down Arrow key, and highlight Advanced BIOS Features.
Press the Enter key.

First Boot Device
Second Boot Device
Third Boot Device
Fourth Boot Device

You want CDROM as the First Boot Device.
This FORCES the computer to boot off of a disk in the optical drive.
(CD/DVD drive)

So you will want Optical Drive as the first boot device.

BIOS Setup changes. There are different versions.
The manual is unclear, of how to move Optical Drive to the top of the list, or also can be said as move to First Boot Device.

Let's see if this method is used;
Use the Down Arrow key, and highlight -> First Boot Device
Now press the Enter key.

Use the Down Arrow to highlight Optical Drive.
Press the Enter key.
Now look at the navigation guide at the bottom. (Does NOT state navigation guide)

Use the appropriate keys to Change Value.
It should either be the + / - keys, or the Page Up/Page Down keys.

(If you can, I would use the Minus { - } key, and not use the Plus
{ + } key )

Tap the key until Optical Drive is at the top of the list, or across from First Boot Device.
Press the Enter key.

Now use the Up or Down Arrow key to highlight -> Save and Exit, and press the Enter key.

Don't have your Restoration Disk in the optical drive?
That's OK. Open the drive, put it in.
Now press the CTRL, ALT, and DELete keys AT THE SAME TIME.
This will restart the computer.

After powering on the NB30 laptop press F2 until it goes to setup page. At setup page press left or right arrow until cursor is in Boot page. In Boot page select the Boot device Priority then press enter to go to another page. Select USB HDD then press x to enable it. Then press F5 of F6 to bring the usb in No. 1 in the list. Press F10 to save and exit. Connect a bootable USB dongle and re-boot the laptop.

Restart your computer.
Press <DEL> to enter BIOS SETUP.
Look for "Boot" options, and change the "Boot Order" to make the CD/DVD the _first_ boot-device.
Save/Exit from BIOS SETUP.
Boot from the CD/DVD drive.

Restart the computer while tapping the deleate key this should bring you to bios go to advanced and check if the harddrive is listed with it highlighted press enter to enter the sub menu make shure its not disabled if it is enable it hit escape key to exit sub menu go to Boot on main menu set hard drive as 1st boot device set cd/dvd drive as 2nd boot device press f10 to save changes and exit. Try restarting
if you get msg opperating system not found use the system restore disk

It happens when no boot device is selected, the default is network boot first, you must select CDROM/DVDROM or HD as your first startup device. boot up machine and enter bios setup think its F2 key to enter bios generally it del or f1 or f2 it may say onscreen at start if f2 doesnt work
in the bios set boot order to HD as firstboot option then save and exit

dont know if all acers do this but also if you press f12 on boot up it gives you current boot options select HD that way is current boot and would have to be done everytime

First you will need to check the battery to see if it is low and needs to be replaced.
next boot the machine into bios and make sure that the time and date are set next select fail safe setup or
use the default setting also make sure that the harddrive is being recognized and is being loaded once the post is complete ok?
than save and exit and reboot .

start ur computer

hit delete to enter setup

go to the second title of the setup ( i forgot wats called heh..)

go to first boot device and choose cd rom

exit saving changes and restart ur pc

u will see the phrase ( hit any key to boot from cd)

hit any key and start the installation.

ps: try to get windows xp sp2 ...its good

Hi, If your computer stops booting from the hard drive and is asking for a boot disk, then: 1. The motherboard/PC is no longer recognizing the hard disk; 1.1 Go to your CMOS/BIOS setup and manually detect the hard disk, save & exit. 2. The CMOS/BIOS is set to boot from other devices such as CD, FDD or USB but not from the HD. If after configuring the CMOS/BIOS and the hard disk is not recognized, then it is probably defective and therefore need to be replaced. If the hard disk is recognized but will not boot, then some files of your OS needed to boot are missing, corrupt or overwritten. You would need to re-install your OS and opt for a "repair". Hi, You need to enter your CMOS/BIOS setup and set your "First Boot Device". Immediately after powering up, press the "Del" key, display will show CMOS/BIOS settings. Verify that all your hard disks are being detected/recognized by your PC. Thereafter, set your First boot device to your new HD. Save and Exit. Hope this be of some idea/help.
