Question about Computers & Internet
It is never a good idea to install windows in multi boot last. Windows loves trashing bootloaders to try to get rid of any non microslop os. Try repairing the bootloader. Search on the name of the distribution + repair bootloader. You really need to give more information to get a good answer. It sounds like you need to do a little more studying if you are attempting something like this.

SOURCE: setup and bios
To get into the bios most pc's want you to press the Delete key on the keyboard. As soon as you start the pc up, press every 2 seconds. Other pc's want you to press F2 or F10 & some F12. One will get you into the bios. Once into the bios go to boot.
Make sure your cdrom is listed before your hard drive. Save & restart. Put your win98se cd in the cdrom & the system should boot to it. When windows finishes make a bootable floppy disk for yourself.

sounds like your floppy drive is failing, you could get it replaced or simply turn it off via the BIOS.
to turn it off simply hit the F2 key. On the first screen usually it will list your Hard Drives, CD ROMs', and the Floppy. scroll down to the floppy and hit enter ot the corresponding key form the bios's legend at the bottom or right hand side of the screen untill you see disable.
Next you can navigate to Save & exit or hit F10 to do the same. G/L.

two things, check your jumper setting, if it is an IDE hard driver.
Second the computer usually won't recognize the Hard drive until it is formatted for the first time. Did the computer stop and say it could not find hard drive ? and you got F1 to continue, well if you did, just continue. Error 655D is a registry screw up, unplug your usb stuff if you can. remember your drivers aren't installed yet (usb requires drivers-once windows is reinstalling your get the drivers...good luck if you need any more help, just let us know
