Question about Garden
I found a lot of dirt in the filter inside of the carb, not sure i got the carb back toghther right looked like it only fit one way Tried blowing on the fuel ports and thay seemed blocked. Put it back togather and it will start for a couple seconds on full choke and then stop.
Most time it require install new diaphragms when you clean a 2C carburetor as are usually harden from age and the fuel addtives used.Once new parts are install the metering lever usually need setting to the correct height. These are easily damaged during the cleaning process if you don't know how to clean them properly.
Good here though a lot of the carburetors are now fairly inexpensive to replace depending the equipment they are used on.

You are definitely on the right track. There is only one thing that could be wrong as long as you replaced the needle valve, screen, gasket, & diaphragm. When cleaning the carb., you need to clean the small portals incarb. with a Den Tek Brush, (used for cleaning between teeth), they work great for this job. These portals, if blocked slightly, can cause this problem.

you need to adjust the high speed needle turn it out in 1/4 increments as you throttle it, low speed may have to come out alittle but do high speed first. I had to answer this as I use to have a pastor john in sturgeon bay, miss him alot.

I had the same problem. I took it to the dumpster and used my old echo that I purchased in 1986. The Homelite was 2 years old. My sugesstion is to dump it.

Sounds as if the Carb needs to be cleaned out. Get yourself a can of non-chlorinated brake cleaner and spray the carb out really well. Then reinstall the carb. Also check any ports in the carb to make sure there isn't any debris blocking the flow of fuel. I would also suggest getting some Stabil Marine (blue) fuel stabilizer. The ethanol in gas destroys small engine carbs. Just mix this in with your gas tank the next time you fill up. How old is this fuel? The ethanol also absorbs water, so even while in the gas can it is obtaining moisture. The Stabil Marine formula helps lesson the effects of the ethanol.
