Question about Kenmore Refrigerators
Sears/Kenmore (Canada) Model# 970-681821 . Anyone know manufacture date and if there is an Owners Manual available? I have spoken with Kenmore in the U.S. They could not find model # so they transferred me to Sears in Canada. Sears in Canada said because I am not the original owner and do not have a phone number that is related with the product that they cannot give me any information on the product! I want to know also if there is a Kenmore or compatible garage heating kit that is available for this model #. Thanks so much!!!!
Hello Anna Dee;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
What a run around! Look on the inside of the fresh food section of your refrigerator. There is a label on the wall near the top. The date of manufacturer is on the label. Also the correct model number. Send me the model number.
What is the problem? Refrigerators are not designed to operate in a garage. If you purchase a new unit and it was under warrantee, the warrantee would be voided if it were operating in a garage.
I was a Sears field service technician. I have never heard of a garage heater kit.
Sorry, you got the run around. The customer service people are under trained, and the telephone technical personal have never spent a day in the field.
I live in Glen Burnie, Md. Call me 443-306-1362

SOURCE: Kenmore model number
You are correct that the 363 means it was manufactured by GE.
You have to include the 363 in the model number when looking up parts. 3639619686
I just looked it up on sears.com and repairclinic.com.
You won't find it on GE, they don't list the models they built for other companies.
Post back if you have any questions.

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use
and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater
comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost
drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the
freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.
Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.
