SOURCE: The presser foot came off Brothers sewing machine

position the foot under the shaft making sure the horizontal pin on the foot is in line with the horizontal groove on the end of presser foot fitting on the shaft. Lower the pressor foot arm and it should snap right on. If not, press it up manually. the directions should be in your manual. If you don't have your manual, you can get it online at www.brother-usa.com

SOURCE: Bobbin won't wind. Machine

Hi, take the top of the machine cover off by removing screws on top plastic cover. Make sure that the rubber ring on the wheel that turns the bobbin threader is making contact with the belt from the flywheel in the back. You may need to see if it turns freely. If not take it off and lubricate it until it frees up and then replace it and the cover.

Can the presser foot be raised slightly on pfaff tiptronic 2030 to facilitate free motion quilting? There is not enough clearance with feed dogs down to freely move material to quilt. Thank you.

You need a special foot for free motion quilting--it is slightly shorter in height than a regular presser foot, which essentially provides space between the presser foot and the needle plate to manually move the fabric. Sometimes machines came with a standard darning foot accessory. Your Pfaff dealer probably has at least one style in stock. But there are other specialty feet you can probably use, ie Big Foot, clear free motion foot, C-shaped, oval, etc. You can also purchase a shank adapter (verify it is the correct shank for your machine) and use it with a kit of snap-on presser feet so you can have a variety of presser feet for different functions.

Presser foot lever won't raise presser foot

Here are some tips for a jammed presser foot:
A bit of lint-thread fluff in one or more places a home sewer can't reach to see much less safely clean. This is a job for a professional the first time so they can show you how to clean the inside of the machine without getting a very nasty electrical shock, and how to get the machine apart, cleaned, and back together with sewing functionality intact. (TIP: don't - don't - don't use 'canned air'! It will only push any lint/fluff deeper into the machine)
OR: the machine hasn't been switched back to sewing mode after winding a bobbin on the machine (simple fix you can do at home - check your user guide and be sure all of your settings are correct).
OR: a broken gear inside the machine (usually the bobbin gear but sometimes a different gear, and sometimes it's two broken at the same time).
OR: the machine has 'seized' because it hasn't been serviced regularly. This is a job for a professional - they will have the knowledge and tools to open the machine safely, find the problem and fix it, and then put the machine back together so that it will still sew.
Best of luck, I hope you and your machine are back sewing soon!

Cant get machine to embroider

there are three positions the presser foot can sit in. Up and down are the same on any machine. The 7570 has an in-between position for embroidery. Lift the presser foot and the lower it slowly while pushing gently. It should stop about half way down. The embroidery foot pushes the foot into the down position with each stitch allowing the fabric to move easily to the next stitch.

I have a 9960 singer machine and am trying to use the buttonhole presser foot for the first time and I can not get it to sew T

the buttonhole foot snaps on to the presser bar, there's a little lever at the back of the presser bar that releases the foot, then put the buttonhole foot down on the needle plate & use the presser foot lifter (number 11) to lower the presser bar down onto the buttonhole foot & you'll hear a click sound when it snaps on & make sure to use the buttonhole lever(number 31) because the machine won't sew a buttonhole unless that lever is pulled down.

I just received a singer 4205 (inspiration) and the presser foot does not move back and forth to pull the material through the machine. It seems to be stuck. I am not a seamstress, but 3 other people...

It is not your presser foot, you must mean the feed dogs, they are what moves the fabric along. Clean and Lubricate your machine. Remove the bobbin case and clean it out. Replace your needle now Totally rethread the machine, according to your manual. Test the threading by putting the presser foot up, pull on top thread, it should pull smoothly, now put your presser foot down, the thread should barely move. This will seat the thread in the tension discs. By the way, try your tension on 3. Also, make sure that your presser foot is down before sewing. Always move the handwheel towards you, never away from you because you will mess up the timing. You will see your feed dogs move if you watch. Download a free copy of you manual at www.singerco.com and save it, plus enlarge the diagrams. If, that does not do the trick call Singer at 1-800-4singer.

Presser foot lifter is stuck can i fix it

If you can't lift the presser foot up at all undo the presser bar screw on top of the presser bar, if you have a dial turn it to 0, you should now be able to move the lever, if it is still tight put some WD40 on the presser bar and leave it for a couple of hours.

Almost all home sewing machines are a fixed presser foot type - the cloth is fed by the serrated ratchets on the bed under it. Expensive walking-foot sewing machines do have a walking foot in addition to the lower serrations. Those usually start at $1000and up.

Presser foot lever stuck

You lever doesn't work because the presser foot Bar is seized from lack of use.Open the side of the machine to access the bar. Put a mixture of water and ammonia ( about 80%water 20% ammonia) on the top and bottom of the bar. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes then try to move the presser foot Up by lifting the foot with a screw driver. Do not pry so hard you break something. It should get progressively easy the more times you do this. Put some sewing machine oil on the top and bottom of the shaft and it should be good to go.
