If every component is in it's correct position and the brew group makes no or very little movement upon start up, it means the 33v DC converter on the CPU is probably bad and the board will need to be replaced. Or, one of the microswitches in the gearbox could also be broken or malfunctioning. Either way, with the symptoms you've described, I believe you will need to have the machine serviced by a Saeco Certified technician. The repair should cost between $175 - $225 unless there are multiple issues.

I've checked the microswitches and they all seem fine. Unfortunately I'm currently too far away from a Saeco technician but I would like to do everything I can, in the mean time. Is there a way I can test this DC converter and if so, where would it be on the board? Any assistance would be appreciated. P.S would a faulty DC converter stop the machine from going into test mode? Thanks

If you have checked all micro switches and door and tray switches and still not able to make brew group rotate, then you have a problem with the CPU. The boards cost between $99 - $125 or so and you can order them online, but you'll have to do some research to get the exact board for your machine. It is a plug and play operation and it should fix your issue if you cannot get the machine to a service tech. I service 7 states for Saeco, so you may have to ship it to a certified repair center.

SOURCE: Machine will turn on but that is it

Hi,

The light 20 is power control light, 26 light if any problems are indicated on the machine and should only light if there are any trouble with the machine. 22 should light when the temperature is right.

Try to open the steam knob and make a cup of water.

Try descaling the machine. If there is no water getting to the brew unit then it might be blocked, if you checked the brew unit then the blockage might be at the boiler or one of the lines.

I had the same problem. I filled everything up and closed it then took the hopper top and placed a small magnet that fit the circumference of the hopper sensor (I took one off of a refrigerator magnet and it fit down into the sensor) and it immediately went green. Hope it works for you.

SOURCE: I have a Saeco Italia.

Hi hyatt995,

You have already tried the first step in solving this problem with the red light which is running a water through the wand. The next thing to do is ventilate. Purge the air out of the system by turning on the knob, the pump should run. Keep it running until the red light stops.

If that didn't resolve the issue then check if you're getting water flow when the machine is in prime mode. If not, then, there is a possible blockage. When the flow sensor determined no water flow it triggers the red light to come on.Check if there's blockage in the line from the heater to the steam wand. Which is easily reached from the back panel (removed)

Turn off power and unplug; release pressure by turning knob (wand) to full. Remove back panel and look at the silver heater (with two hoses attached) Remove the closest host (it goes directly to the steam wand) To remove, carefully remove cotter pin and use a needle nose plier to pull up on the hose (careful not to lose the two red washers) They will need to be put back on the hose when you are done.

Inspect the inside of this hose; most likely this is your blockage. Use a sewing needle or toothpick to dig out the deposits. Reassemble (push the hose down into the heater and hold there while inserting the cotter pin) If you don't get it latched in; the hose can dislodge and spray inside the machine. Turn steam wand to off. Power on and put machine into prime mode. With any luck you should get water flow from the nozzle now and the light will turn off.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Solid red light is a ventilate light.. Try Priming the machine to see if the light goes away.

Something may be in the flow meter. Its the while device between the water tank and the pump of the machine. You would have to open the machine and clean out the flow meter.

Also, if you haven't descaled the machine already, I would start there.

Is my Coffee Machine dead?

Hi, you should check first the safety contacts (door open detection, brew group inserted detection) that will prevent your machine doing its initialization properly.
If all contacts are OK (check with a multimeter), it might be the electronics board has a failure. If the lights goes on, the power supply seems ok. Try ti figure-out which section is faulty.
Do you have any alarm light on ?

Hope that helps.

Hi. Sounds like a blocked or jammed brew unit. Remove brew unit and clean. To properly do this, you need to disassemble the brew unit. Canbe quite hard to do. The brew units are usually held together with plastic tabs, and may have to remove some screws to allow these tabs to release units assembly. Dazza REPAIRER

Saeco Vienna Digital Expresso Maker - brew group will not line up to fit back into espresso machine

Could be a number of reasons. If you "hear" the brew group moving in one direction, stop and then move again, then the microswitches are o.k. If the sound of the movement is low and/or slow ( slower that normal), the CPU/power board may be bad and needs to be replace. If the movement is as before (same sound and movement) but not lining up, perhaps the brew drive motor is bad.
To remedy this situation, an authorized SAECO Service Center would have to open your machine and replace damaged components. Contact Saeco USA Inc. to located a Service Center near you at 800-933-7876 (toll-free), ask for customer support, or contact SAECO via e-mail at : outlet@saeco-usa.com
