Question about Brinks Anodized Dial Combination Padlock

2 Answers

I have a dial combination Brinks padlock that I can't open. I know I'm dialing the correct numbers, but it simply won't unlock. Any ideas?

I've tried turning the dial counter-clockwise several rounds to "reset" the dial, then following the 2+ right, 1 left, & straight to the last number instructions, and being very accurate on where the arrow points before trying to open.

I can't get this one off the door so I CAN get a new one (and get into my workshop to get milk from the deep freezer I have in there).

My brinks 4-dial combination padlock will not open

Add my solution??? Cut the lock off and don't buy another brinks lock. I bought two of these combination locks. Over priced and over rated. I bought one for our locker at work. After about a month it refused to open. After working with it for days I finally had to cut the lock off. I bought another one. It didn't even last a week. After working with this lock again we had no choice but to cut the lock off. Being a retired locksmith of 20 years I know locks. These are worthless.

Forgotten combination dial lock

hi,
on the back of some of those dial combo locks there are small numbers stamped in the back ~~ with those numbers your local locksmith shop can look up the combo for a small charge.

Combinations consist of FOUR (4) positions (numbers).
BEFORE YOU START
Before you begin, please clear all settings by turning the dial CLOCKWISE (to the right)
three times. We also recommend to try the procedure with your safe door open first. Then
follow these steps:
TURNING SEQUENCE
1. Start the dial on 0 (zero).
2. Turn the dial to the RIGHT, passing your first combination number FOUR (4)
times and stopping at that number on the fifth time around.
3. Turn the dial to the LEFT, passing your second combination number TWO (2)
times and stopping at that number the third time around.
4. Turn the dial to the RIGHT, passing your third combination number ONE (1) time
and stopping at that number the second time around.
5. Turn the dial to the LEFT, to the last combination number and STOP.
6. Insert the key in the cylinder lock and turn RIGHT to open.
Your safe should now be opened.

Brinks safe

As I understand that safe has four numbers to the combo. 1) turn the dial to the right passing the first number 4 times stopping at that number the next time around. 2) Turn the dial to the left passing the second number 2 times and stopping on that number the next time around. 3)turn the dial to the right passing the third number 1 time and stop on that number the next time around. 4) Turn the dial to the left stopping on the last number. 5) Insert the key into the cylindrical lock and turn it to the right.
