Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hi, I have an AKAI TV model number PDP5006H. When I plug in my cable box to the HDMI / DVI adaptor, my TV will not find a signal. If I don't use the HDMI adaptor the cable works fine. Is there a cord I can get with a DVI end and a HDMI end so I don't have to use the adapter or is that even my problem? Thank you. Ali

There are different types of hdmi so they are coded , the earlier ones aren't as good as 1.4 versions.

SOURCE: HDMI to DVI-D conversion problem. Not in compliance?

It souunds like te TV is having problems with the streaming data being applied Most plasmas with DVI connections were actually designed for PC type input signals  Unfortunately the TV's input may not be able to stand up to the stream of signal the DVD or cable box wants to display. You can try and lower the output of both devices to 720P Good luck to you

HDMI slot is absent in this tv. How can I adapt it to handle HDMI?

Yes, the Panasonic PT-50LC13 has a DVI port. There are DVI to HDMI adapters to handle the conversion. You will need an HDMI F to DVI-D M adapter (like this: http://www.amazon.com/Importer520-Plated-Female-DVI-D-Adaptor/dp/B0035B4LJM/ref=pd_sim_e_1 ). Alternatively, get an HDMI to DVI-D video cable (both male ends) of the appropriate length. You will need a separate cable for the audio. Make sure that your source has a separate analog audio output available and plug that into the DVI audio input (RCA R/L). If your source has a only digital audio output and the HDMI port, you could use a digital-to-analog audio converter to provide this audio. For example, this would work: http://www.gefen.com/kvm/gtv-digaud-2-aaud.jsp?prod_id=5279 .

Please note this will not handle the signal from most computers. They send a different signal then the TV can handle. Copy protected content (DRM) may not be correctly translated by the TV. Most Blu-ray movies require HDCP compliant TVs and monitors.

I hope this helps.

Hi I am trying to connect a Dell Latitude E4310 computer to a HD Vizio TV. I know that I need a HDMI cable to plug into the TV But what should the other end be? or what adaptor do I use to connect with?

HDMI cables will have either HDMI or DVI on the other end to plug into a flatscreen tv. If you are trying to plug it into an older tv without HDMI or DVI, you will need an HDMI to whichever plug is available on your tv. http://www.amazon.com/GefenTV-HDMI-to-Composite-Scaler/dp/B0013LTNF8

Unfortunatly Poleroid is a very economic set and Since there is no built-in ASTC tuner you will have to connect HD sources via the component or DVI jacks. You will ned a plug that is HDMI to component or DVI to get your service.

I cant figure out how to plug in the direct tv cable

Ther is no "cable" connector on this model tv. Check your direct tv control module "cable box" for a hdmi output. If you have that output, you will need ahdmi cable for HD broadcast. If you donot have a hdmi output on your direct tv box, contact direct tv for the right one. Do not use RCA connectors because the picture will be fuzzy do to in-ability for rca connectoe to send HD signal. You MUST have hdmi signal from cablle box to tv.
Good luck.

I have a phillips 26pf5520d/10 model number, ive connected a dvi cable and hdmi cable to my playstation 3 and tv, but i have no sound, please any ideas. many thanks steph

I'm assuming you mean you have HDMI coming out of the PS3 and going in to the DVI port on the back of the TV, via an adaptor or cable with a different connector on either end.
I have the same TV, you need a separate audio connection between ps3 and tv. HDMI can transmit audio and video but DVI (which is what the TV has) can only do video.
You'll need a 2 x phono female to 3.5mm jack male adaptor cable. like this one to make the audio connection.
you could also try this adaptor but its a bit big and therefore may not fit into the space available.
after getting an adaptor do this (keep your original setup the same)
1. Put the ps3 AV cable into the back of the ps3. 2. then connect the red and white plugs (ignore the yellow) from the ps3 AV into the adaptor (discussed above). 3. then connect the 3.5mm jack (from the adaptor) into the small audio port right next to the DVI port on the back of the TV (I believe its called 'DVI Audio')
I've not tried this and I don't have a ps3, yet, but in theory it should work, as long as the ps3 will send audio to the av output at the same time as to the hdmi output.
if it works, then post a response, i'd like to know for the future.
good luck
