hi,
I have the above tv and power light blinks red 6 times.I checked the internet and found that probably problem is in the thermal fuse but what is the part number for that and how can I replace it?
-   I press the power buton the green light flashes as if it about to turn on but then it does not turn on and it flashes red like 4-6 times then stops then starts flashing red again and repeats this until I unplug the TV.-   elietoby

I have this problem and have order thermal fuses from parts store
Sony:
THERMAL FUSE--
1-910-023-93--
$5.95
I have opened up the back of the tv to reveal the electrical components. The cooling fan is to the right (when looking from the back) It is a 12 volt unit. Parts store list several fans 1-787-065-11 sony (sirocco--$76.15) or direct replacement 1-0787-460-11 $25.27 they also list another Sirocco fan with a different part number (same price.)
My question is how do you determine if the fan is defective--
I am leaning to the fan as a source of the problem. Not producing the right CFM (air flow) or pulling too much current or both.
Also: in looking from the rear--where is the thermal fuse located.

-   This just recently occured with my Sony 55" LCD TV. It's only 2 years old and can't see this TV be broken already. Any idea what it might be? What's with this thermal fuse and where is it located? -   Guest
the optical block would have to be removed or loose inorder to get to thermal fuse housing. Also make sure to clean cooling fans carefully to remove crusted dust.If fans are dust crusted ,then your thermal fuse may not last..
I want to clean the projector sitting in the back as I see that there is some dust on it. I dont know if that is a good idea or not or if it will even make a difference with the image on the screen. I want to take a pc of cotton and windex to it while I am waiting for my thermal fuse. Anyone with advice?

I have a year old 52" Philips LCD 1080P tv. In the past month the tv will intermittently go into an error state. I try to turn it on. The blue LED illuminates for a few seconds, then it reverts to the blinking red error code (6 long blinks, 3 quick blinks). Do you know what this error code indicates? In the past (4 times prior) I have unplugged the tv and within 24 hours it recovers. This happened again last night. Tried it this morning and this time it didn't recover.
