Could be a problem with the motherboard, sensor could be going back, also check to make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly.

You should probably take it to a Bernina repair person.

I have a faithful 730 Bernina and currently the bobbin thread keeps breaking. Please advise what may be causing this. Thanking you.

Bobbin thread breaks
1. There is a right way & wrong way to insert the bobbin in the case --when you insert the bobbin in if it doesn't stitch correctly turn the bobbin over see if that helps or bobbin case is not inserted correctly
2. Lint has collected in the bobbin holder
3. The bobbin is damaged & doesn't turn smoothly
4. Lower thread tension is two tight

Does not recognize when bobbin thread has run out

Clean out the bobbin area. Try to determine where you sensor is and used canned air to clean that. Hopefully it's just a dirty sensor and not a bad one.

Good luck

Check Lower Thread message come up repeatedly while sewing and embroidering. Thread is not broken. Why is this happening?

This is usually because there's fluff in the optical sensor that's fixed to the bobbin door, or alot of fluff in the rotary hook. Remove the bobbin case and give the hook a good brush-out with the supplied brush and also get a cotton bud and gently clean the lens on the lower thread sensor. This is a black 'box' attached to the bobbin door ... if you look carefully, you'll see a small lens and an opening next to it; make sure the lens is clean and the whole area is free of fluff. If it's still giving a lower thread breakage indication (not an upper thread breakage - this is a different sensor), it may be a faulty sensor or the sensor may have become disconnected from the main processor board. Get it checked-out by a qualified Bernina service agent.

Low bobbin thread indicator not working on Pfaff 2044. Using clear bobbins. Is there a lamp or sensor that can be replaced?

Have you tried to take out the bobbin case, close the door, and see if the indicator comes on? If the indicator works with no bobbin case, then the machine is working. You may have what we call foggy bobbins. Bobbins that are scratched or cloudy. Make sure you try a new one. Also check for lint blockage in the hook area or the bobbin case. If it still doesn't work, the indicator on the door may have gotten pushed in. That sometimes happens. You should feel the indicator eye protruding out a little bit from the door. You can open the area where the indicator is on the door to push it back out. Sometimes the indicator wire behind the hook gets broken. That would require you do disassemble the freearm cover area. Start with the simple things first.

Viewer states problem - but cannot correct.

Hi, if you look in the bobbincase you will see a round spring. Sometimes this gets moved and it blocks the hole the sensor reads through. Clean inside the bobbincase with a q-tip. Also clean the sensor lens on the door with a q-tip. Also try rewinding a bobbin but don't start with the thread through a hole in the bobbin.
Hope this helps.

I know this is a long-overdue response, but maybe it will help someone else. I had the same problem, and it turned out that the cause was that my bobbins had oxidized. Rubbing them with a bit of steel wool or fine-grain sandpaper did the trick, and I was up and running again.
