Question about Dryers
Removed 2 screws, still can't open case
In addition to the screws, the molded cases are injection molded in a 'male' and 'female' configuration. Sometimes a bit more than slight pressure is required to disengage the snap-lock of the plastic joint.

You have a choice for which side front door should be on this model. There are 4 screws on front door. Take all 4 screws and pull down the front panel. You will see two metal parts each side which holds top panel. Remove two screws and metal parts. Now you can push up the top panel.

Sounds like you have a broken belt.
If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
First you will need to unplug your dryer from the electric.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley.
While you have the drum out, I would also recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
The smell your smelling is probably from the heating coil not getting air over it to send to the drum to dry your clothes, this should go away after you replace the belt and get the blower to turn again.
I hope this helps
