VDSC4876GSSLP - Oven element wont heat . . Main oven started going in and out of "clean" mode, locking and unlocking the oven door while in use, then eventually stopped working all together. Fan and light are still functional, and small oven continues to work fine. Any thoughts on what may have failed ? . . replacement part # ? . .

Hm, look at self clean board. If curb base is on under unit while self cleaned, less air drawn into oven causing lock issues. Depending on serial break, ck relay at rear of unit. Get a authorized servicer to look at it and go from there. Hope this helps

If there is power to the unit (lights turn on) I would check the fuses and switches especially the one for door lock mechanism if you noticed a glitch. But a lot of times if you experiences problems after running a self-cleaning function, including locked door issue, the solution could be as simple as resetting a switch and no actual replacement parts needed. It all depends. If you are in Los Angeles, we could send a Viking repairman the same day you call us. : Viking Appliance Repair

SOURCE: Viking Dual Fuel 6 Burner 48" OVEN DOES NOT HEAT

I hate self clean functions - If you think about it - you should too. These ranges are equipped with electronic components and running self clean at 950 degrees will more than likely burn something out. A lot of complaints are because of the self clean. It's not worth it to self clean than to clean it yourself. And 200 dollars is a great price for something like this if it includes parts and labor. Good luck.

probably, power failure occurred, the electric ignitors will not work. The range surface burners can still be used, but only when the burners are lit manually with a match. The griddle cannot be used at all.
I recommend you have electrician check power circuit breaker, wiring and fuses.

Hi n664v,

This sounds to me like a Thermostat problem. If it is an electronic version Oven, then it will be the Sensor or PC Board Module controlling temperature. Please let me know what Make and Model your Oven is, so I can better assist you.

Kind Regards

While baking oven starts broiling with no input from controller. f2 is displayed on screen

Hello there:
F2
Note: Also see fan thermal switches Indicates that oven is over temperature in one of the following modes within either a cooking or clean mode of operation.
· Control senses oven temperature above 650 degrees F with the door circuit in the unlock mode.
· Control senses oven temperature above 935 degrees F with the door in the locked mode.
· Stalled cooling fan or airflow problem. · Look for welded relay contacts. (Heating elements on in off mode).
· Look for open thermal switch in lock motor circuit. Switch is normally closed and will open if area overheats due to fan not operating. Look for cause - fan thermal switch not closing, fan stalled, etc.
· Look for high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit due to high contact resistance (poor terminal crimp, deformed terminals, loose connection) or intermittent solder joint on control or intermittent oven temperature sensor.
· Look for electrical noise interference in the oven temperature sensor circuit (Ham radio, cordless phone, etc.).

Model GBS307PDQ5: Oven preheated to 425 degrees.

F3 usually means, that the oven temp. sensor is bad and one need to replace it.
The fact, that it's not heating tells me, the fuse in the back also needs to be replaced (requires pulling out).

Self cleaning

Maryann, try shutting the breaker off for 5 minutes and see if the door unlocks. Im assuming the oven has cooled down. If that doesn't work try holding the cancel and broil pads for 3 seconds. This will put it into the quik test mode. Once in this mode press the clean button. This should toggle between lock and unlock. Don't know if this will work for you but it's worth a try..Catriver...post back.
