Ice maker switch does not stay on "ON" position

I have switched it off, held it for a couple seconds, pressed it on, held it while it cycled, and the switch returns to center position between on and off. Thank you , John

The machine will make a couple of cycles of ice then stop. If i turn it off to clean then turn it on it will work for a few more times but then stop again. Any ideas?

Sounds like the bin switch. If it stays in the open position then the machine thinks it is full of ice and go to automatic shut down.

I am getting a message saying the Curtain Open and I can't get my ice machine to come on?

I didn't think their smaller units had a curtain, but it is referring to the plastic shield that hangs in front of the ice making grid or evaporator. This must be closed for the unit to run and there is a magnetic reed switch located on the bottom right hand corner of the curtain to prove that it is closed. Actually the magnet is in the curtain and the reed switch is snapped into the side of the grid. Make sure the curtain is in place and the magnet has not broken off. If that is in tact look to see if the reed switch is in tight. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CURTAIN... some units had a small plastic flapper at the bottom of the grid that was activated whenever ice dropped. Same system though with a magnet and reed switch. The magnets on some of these curtains and flappers were just surface mounted with some kind of adhesive and others have it captured inside of a plastic pocket made into the curtain. So if you don't see a magnet look for a spot where it used to be. If you want to prove this is the problem just get a magnet and hold it up to that spot for about 10 seconds and see if the unit cycles on. You will then have to order a new curtain or flapper or attach a magnet to the broken spot somehow.

Ice machine stays in harvest too long what's the problem

when in ice realese mode then the former plate heats for a few seconds the the ice will fall off easily i think if it stays too long in release its not detecting the heating cycle as start or finished or some end stop is wrong or the micro switch is intermittent so when it begins to release the switch is making the cycle short in time of event so ... it gets stuck check the usually three micro switches by replacement and all connections and give it a good clean also check the sensors {easy with some ice and water and a meter set to ohms}

Ice maker not dropping ice, the switch is on, and the ice has been in the tray for quite some time now

POWER ON DIAGNOSTICS TEST MODE When the ice maker is first connected to power and the thermistor temperature is 50°F or more, the control will initiate a “Power On” test before entering the freeze cycle. The test will consist of the following sequence:
1)Turn on the motor until it reaches home position
2)Turn on the water valve for 1/2 second
3)Turn on the heater for 1/2 second
4)Verify that the feeler arm was in the “in” and then the “out” position.
5)Verify that the motor was not in the home position and then in the home position.
6)Verify that the motor does not remain on after being turned off.
7)Proceed to the freeze cycle. SERVICE DIAGNOSTICS TEST MODE During the first 15 seconds that power is first applied to the ice maker, the Service Diagnostics Test mode may be entered. The Service Mode is entered by pushing the feeler arm in and out three times within 15 seconds. (only three times). There will be only one fill cycle (5.1 second) in the service diagnostics mode without the waiting period for the mold to “pre-chill”. If the ice maker has already started a harvest cycle and the arm is moving, it may be impossible to start the service mode. (since the NORMAL cycle is already started). While in the “Power On Diagnostics” test mode, the “Service Diagnostic” test mode can be initiated and will override the “Power On Diagnostics” test mode. This ice maker has no replacement parts available and is not intended to be repaired.

There should be a small test button underneath the ice-maker unit. On mine the on/off switch is on the left front of the unit and the test button is underneath the unit - on the right. Press it for a few seconds and it will cycle.

repairs should be performed by an authorized repair technician. D7824706Q complete ice maker should never be advanced manually. the ice maker arm should be in the down position in order to advance. once the inner thermal switch has been satisfied the ice maker motor should advance. the ice maker is damaged and will need to be replaced by the proper ice maker.

Pam, if the ejector blades are in the 2:00 positon then it's in it's home position. When you open the freezer door, you should see two flashes followed by a pause repeatedly. Hold the left side emitter down and the light should stay on steady. If you have this, the optics are good. Next step is to remove the ice maker from the mount and inspect the module. Make sure that the two clips that are holding the center wheel are not broken, If you only see one clip, then it's broken. If that is ok, make sure the fill tube is not frozen up, they have a habit of doing that. If it is, use a baster and thaw it with hot water. If that is ok, leave the ice maker on the top shelf with the harness attached. Unplug the refrigerator and insert a jumper between T&H. Close the freezer door. Plug the refer back in and wait 50 seconds. Now open the freezer door and see if the ice maker is cycling. You may have to press the light switch 3 times. If it is cycling it will call for the fill when the ejector blades are at 12:00 high. If it's doesnt cycle, try it again. Sometimes this takes up to 3 times to get it to cycle. If it fails to start after 3 attempts and the optics are good, replace the module. Let me know how you make out. Catriver

NOT MAKING ICE

Run a test on your icemaker. Make sure it is switched on and press and hold the button on the ice maker for about 5 seconds. The ice maker will then go through at test cycle.

Ice maker not getting water after changing filter

Check the following:
Is the freezer door closed completely?
Is the ice storage bin installed correctly?
Is there ice in the storage bin?
Has the ice frozen in the storage bin?
Is ice stuck in the delivery chute?
Has the wrong ice been added to the storage bin? Use only
cubes produced by the current ice maker.
Has the ice melted around the auger (metal spiral) in the
ice bucket?
Dump the ice cubes and clean the ice storage
bin.
Is the ice dispenser stalling while dispensing “crushed”
ice?
Change the ice button from “crushed” to “cubed.” If
cubed ice dispenses correctly, depress the button for
“crushed” ice and begin dispensing again.
Has the dispenser arm been held in too long? Ice will stop
dispensing when the arm is held in too long. Wait 3 minutes
for dispenser motor to reset before using again.

The ON/OFF switch is located on the top right side of the freezer
compartment.
To turn the ice maker on, slide the control to the ON (left) position.
To manually turn the ice maker off, slide the control to the OFF
(right) position.
NOTE: Your ice maker has an automatic shutoff. The ice maker
sensors will automatically stop ice production, but the control will
remain in the ON (left) position

REMEMBER:
Allow 24 hours to produce the first batch of ice. Discard the
first three batches of ice produced.
The quality of your ice will be only as good as the quality of the
water supplied to your ice maker. Avoid connecting the ice
maker to a softened water supply. Water softener chemicals
(such as salt) can damage parts of the ice maker and lead to
poor quality ice. If a softened water supply cannot be avoided,
make sure the water softener is operating properly and is well
maintained

The Dispenser Lock (on some models)
Your dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to prevent
unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.
NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product, to
the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the
dispenser levers. The ice and water dispensers will not work.
Style 1: Press the LOCK BUTTON to lock the dispenser. Press the
UNLOCK button to unlock the dispenser.
Style 2: Press and hold the LOCK OUT button to lock the
dispenser. Press and hold the LOCK OUT button a second time to
unlock the dispenser.

Ice Maker Won't Stop Making Ice

There is an adjustment for the "harvest" bar (The bar you lifted up). That bar you are lifting up tells the ice-maker that the cubes have fallen into the ice storage and starts the ice-making cycle over. It is also the Limit switch for the ice level in the storage container ... if it stays up for preset time determined by the manufacturer it stops making ice... most all ice-machines use the same devices. they vary little in design. Sometimes you can just gently bend the bar down to the point where it turns-off the machine at the level you want ... unless you can get to the adjustment hinge you can adust it there. For the fact it goes off when you lift it all the way up tells me the harvest switch is turning the ice-maker off.
