Open Question

How come the rubber brake ring of my metabo sxe 450duo eats into the plastic of the backing plate? (it leaves a scratch track/trail of ca 100mm diameter within the red marked circel of 120mm

When in action the plastic is burned/scraped off and rubber smelling smoke comes from the device that also comes down in revs as if it's binding and it spits tiny bits of black plastic coming from the backing plate/pad.

piston gripping you need to change those caliper or if piston goes in fine the caliper sleeve need to move freely and pad need to go in easy in the braket clean and remove rust lub and make sure evething move freely hope this help fixya our post

SOURCE: Vacuum smells like burning rubber

Usually when my vacuum smells like burning rubber, the belt needs to be changed and that is very easy to do. You just need to remove the the screws that hold in the rotator and put in a new belt. When the belt needs to be changed the vacuum will not pick up anything and this could make it seem like there is no suction. I hope this helps!

Are you removing the plate from the top (4screws) or trying from the bottom. It appears that the eccentric is a loose press fit. I am looking at a breakdown but it is not really all that clear. I would suggest going to Metabotools.com and under downloads type in your model number which is 600358-42, the 6 is already in place so what I did is add a 1 to the end of it and found the tool. Let me know but did you also check the clamps for the reason. Usually the platen is sold as an assembly.

Please DO NOT drive in with the vehicle in this condition!!!!
What you have going on is that the brake caliper (part that holds your brake pads) is bad and sticking. Just remove it, get a NEW one from any chain autoparts store,and replace it. You will have to get a new set of pads as well,as due to the binding, the ones on there now are trashed.

Again,PLEASE do NOT drive in this condition as yours and your fellow drivers ,as well as your passengers safety is at stake.

Rear brakes


Removal
1.Remove rear wheel and tire assembly from vehicle.

2.Remove rear brake drums from hub and bearing assemblies after loosening the two brake drum screws.

3.Be sure that the parking brake pedal is in the release(most upward) position.

4.Completely loosen square nut of the rear parking brake cable. Then create slack in the rear parking brake cables.

5.Remove adjuster spring from adjust lever and brake shoe.

6.Remove adjust lever and turn the adjusting wheel of adjuster assembly to the direction of the arrow as shown.

9.Remove brake back plate hold down spring and pin from the leading brake shoe assembly.

Replacement
1.Lubricate the eight shoe contact areas on the back plate and anchor.

2.Install the trailing brake shoe to the rear parking cable.

3.Install trailing brake shoe on brake back plate and install the trailing brake shoe hold down spring and pin on the brake shoe.

4.Tighten the square nut of rear parking cable.

5.Install the anchor spring then install adjuster assembly, and strut.

6.Install leading brake shoe on brake back plate.

7.Install the brake shoe upper return spring, strut spring and the lower retracting spring to the brake shoe.

8.Properly rotate the adjusting wheel of adjuster assembly to the direction of the arrow in as shown.

9.Install the adjuster spring on the adjust lever and leading brake shoe assembly.

10.Install the leading brake shoe hold down spring and pin on the brake shoe.

11.Adjust brake shoes assemblies so as not to interfere with brake drum installation.

12.Install the rear brake drums on the hubs.

13.Check and adjust whether the pedal stroke in the specification.(Refer to section BR Gr./On-vehicle service/Pedal stroke of parking brake)

14.Install wheel and tire.

15.Push the parking brake pedal to the floor once and release pedal. This will automatically remove the slack from and correctly adjust the parking brake cables.

16.Test the vehiche on the road. The adjust will continue the brake adjustment during the road test of vehicle.

Inspection
1.Inspect the disassembled parts for wear, rust or damage.

2.Measure the thickness of brake shoe lining.
Standard : 0.17 in (4.5 mm)
Minimum : 0.04 in (1 mm)

3.If the shoe lining is less than minimum or shows signs of uneven wear, replace new one.

4.Measure the inside diameter of the brake drum.
Standard : 10 in (254 mm)
Maximum : 10.07 in (256 mm)

5.If the inside diameter of the brake drum is more than maximum or shows signs of uneven wear, replace new one.

6.Inspect the lining and drum for proper contact. If the contact condition is improper, repair it with a grinder or replace the brake shoe assembly.

2004 suzuki 2.5 cleaned the throttle body with wd 40 & a rag with some thinner on it ,now the engine idles faster & transmission shifts hard when slowing down.any ideas


Throttle position sensor. Pull the plug and clean it with brake clean. Never use thinner on your car it eats rubber. Brake clean cleans oil and carbon and doesn't leave a residue. And it doesn't eat the seals out of sensors. It drys to quick.

Remove replace rear brakes on ford t bird 1996


1989-97 Vehicles Drum Brakes (Let me know if you need the Disc Brake Instructions)

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear wheel and tire assemblies, then remove the brake drum.

  3. Install Brake Cylinder Clamp D81L-1103-B or equivalent, over the ends of the
    rear wheel cylinder.
  4. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever.

  5. Remove the 2 brake shoe hold-down retainers, springs and pins.
  6. Spread the brake shoes over the piston shoe guide slots. Lift the brake
    shoes, springs and adjuster off the backing plate as an assembly. Be careful not
    to bend the adjusting lever.

  7. Remove the adjuster spring. To separate the shoes, remove the retracting
    springs.
  8. Remove the parking brake lever retaining clip and spring washer. Remove the
    lever from the pin.

    To install:

  9. Apply a light coating of caliper slide grease to the backing plate brake
    shoe contact areas.
  10. Apply a light coat of lubricant to the threaded areas of the adjuster screw
    and socket. Assemble the brake adjuster with the stainless steel washer. Turn
    the socket all the way down on the screw, then back off 1?2 turn.
  11. Install the parking brake lever to the trailing shoe with the spring washer
    and a new retaining clip. Crimp the clip to securely retain the lever.
  12. Position the trailing shoe on the backing plate and attach the parking brake
    cable. Position the leading shoe on the backing plate and attach the lower
    retracting spring to the brake shoes.
  13. Install the adjuster assembly to the slots in the brake shoes. The socket
    end must fit into the wider slot in the leading shoe. The slot in the adjuster
    nut must fit into the slots in the trailing shoe and parking brake lever.

  14. Install the adjuster lever on the pin on the leading shoe and to the slot in
    the adjuster socket.
  15. Install the upper retracting spring in the slot on the trailing shoe and the
    slot in the adjuster lever. The adjuster lever should contact the star and
    adjuster assembly.
  16. Install the brake shoe anchor pins, springs and retainers. Remove the brake
    cylinder clamp tool
  17. Install the brake drum, wheel and tire assemblies and lower the vehicle.
  18. Apply the brakes several times while backing up the vehicle. After each
    stop, the vehicle must be moved forward.

Parking brake cable stretched beyond adjustment how do you replace


Rear Brake Shoes- You'll need to know how to remove the rear brake shoes to remove the parking brake cable. REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Amigo and Rodeo
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear wheels.
  3. Remove the brake drums.
  4. Remove the brake return springs.
  5. Remove the leading shoe holding pin and spring, and then the leading shoe.
  6. Remove the self-adjuster and the adjuster lever.
  7. Remove the trailing shoe holding pin and spring.
  8. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the trailing shoe and remove the trailing shoe. Remove the parking brake lever from the trailing shoe. To install:
  9. Attach the parking brake lever to the trailing shoe.
  10. Connect the parking brake cable to the parking brake lever.
  11. Apply a thin coat of high temperature grease to the shoe contact points on the brake backing plate (locations A and C in the accompanying illustration), piston contact surface (B), and self-adjuster (D). Fig. 1: Exploded view of the rear drum brakes — Amigo and Rodeo 93026g56.gif

  12. Position the trailing shoe on the backing plate and install the hold-down pin, spring, and retainer. Don't stretch the return spring when fitting the shoes onto the backing plate.
  13. Connect the upper return spring and the leading shoe to the trailing shoe and position the leading brake shoe on the backing plate.
  14. Install the adjuster assembly and the hold-down pin, spring, and retainer.
  15. Use a brake spring tool to install the lower return spring.
  16. Install the self-adjuster lever and adjuster spring.
  17. Adjust the shoe-to-drum clearance to 0.0098–0.0157 in. (0.25–0.40mm) and install the brake drum.
  18. Check the brake drum for scoring or other wear. Machine or replace as necessary. Check the maximum brake drum diameter specification when machining.
  19. Install the rear wheels. Lower the vehicle.
  20. Road-test the vehicle.

How do i take my fuel pump out in my bmw 325, i got the rear seat put and the cover on the passenger seat off, i just cant get the pump out


The fuel pump in your 325 is under the rear seat, passenger side. Take the seat out, then pull up the rubber grommet with the wire going through it. Leave the wire alone for now. Peel up the thin rubber insulating mat. It is pre cut by the factory and not glued down. Remove the four nuts (10mm socket) and lift the round plate. Now remove the wire by sliding the plastic plug type housing back and lift the entire plug type housing up. Now, remove the hose clamp and slide the hose back off the plastic tube. If you damage the clamp, buy a new 1/4" clamp at the auto store for .30cents. Now unscrew the steel ring holding the pump in place. Unscrew this ring by tapping the ring with a screw driver and hammer. Remember counterclockwise (off). Now put your finger in the plastic ring molded into the top of the pump and pull up with some force. It is in place with a rubber gasket. Tight, but it will come loose. Be careful not to drop any thing into the tank. On the other side (drivers side) is a float/sensor. When reinstalling, seat the rubber gasket into the hole then drop the new pump/sensor into place. Your tank is like a saddle bag so it has two float/sensors. Time: 25 minutes

Metabo model 6030 will not hammer help out


There are several possibilities. Remove the cover from top of gearbox. The piston / sleeve assembly will be visible. Wiggle the assembly to check for side play. If the assembly is loose side-to-side, loosen one of the support tracks (two allen screws). Wedge a screwdriver between the track and the housing and then re-tighten the screws. Another possibility is that the piston o-ring is worn. stand the tool on its nose, if the piston falls quickly forward, the o-ring is worn out. This part is no longer available. If the piston does not move forward, smack the nose firmly against the work bench. If it still does not move, the piston lube may have dried out. Shoot some WD40 into the sleeve for a quick test. Another possibility is end wear of all hammering parts in the tool. This can be difficult to determine if you dont know what they looked like originally.

97 tahoe brakes


Raise the Tahoe's rear end on jack stands. Block the front wheels and remove both of the rear wheels. Release the parking brake. Remove the brake drum, cutting off the pressed metal washers with a strong cutting tool.
If the drum won't come off because the drum shoes have worn into the drum, retract the shoes by removing the access plug from the backing plate. Push the lever off the adjuster star wheel with a small screwdriver and turn the star wheel with another screwdriver.
Clean off the entire assembly with break cleaner, using a drain pan to catch the residue. Never blow away brake dust with compressed air. Detach the spring from the adjuster level from within the drum by gripping it Detach the spring from the adjuster level from within the drum by gripping it shoe. Remove the trailing shoe and adjuster lever. Remove the adjuster screw assembly. Pull away the retractor spring and remove the leading shoe. Disconnect the trailing shoe from the parking brake lever.

Clean off the backing plate and lightly lubricate its shoe contact areas with high-temperature grease. Clean the adjuster screw assembly and lubricate the threads and socket end. Inspect the condition of the drum itself. If there are any cracks, score marks, deep scratches or discolored areas that can't be removed with an Emory cloth, have the drum resurfaced at an automotive machine shop.

Attach the new trailing shoe to the parking brake lever, position it on the backing plate and install the retractor spring's end into its hole. Re-install the adjuster screw assembly, making sure it engages with the leading shoe. Lubricate and install the adjuster level on the trailing shoe.
Place the trailing shoe on the backing plate, making sure it properly engages with the adjuster screw assembly, and insert the retractor spring into its hole within the trailing shoe. Place the actuator spring within its hole in the leading shoe, stretch the spring and connect it to the adjuster level.
Install the drum back on the Tahoe. Turn the adjuster screw's star wheel until the drum slips over the shoes without rubbing them. Reconnect the wheels once the brakes are changed on both sides and lower the vehicle.

Good luck and go for a test drive. If you could find a empty parking lot, go in reveres and do a full brake application a 7 to 10 times. This will self adjust the brakes to ensure that both side's are adjusted the same.

My Sears Calypso washer is not draining. discharge pump is new and working. It looks like something is in the plastic tub blocking drainage. How do you remove spindle & SS tub to get at the plastic tub...


You really should replace the seals, gaskets and o-rings when you remove either the outer or inner wash plate or you have compromised the water tight seal for the U-Joint which drives the wash plate, and the washer will eventually fail completely (rust out the U-joint and brakes), from what the service manual warns. These units tend to eat small articles of clothing in the gap between the wash plate and the tub, if the seal starts to wear. According to the book, the gaskets and such must also be replaced when these plates are removed to avoid the inevitable seal integrity compromise that will ruin the unit's moving parts.
