Dell Ultrasharp 2407wfpb 24" widescreen LCD monitor goes black (with the back light on) after a while and then won't allow me to power it off or switch to any other input. After unplugging it and then

Over heat, freezes all buttons on black out after about 30 min. Won't black with it apart (no heat shields on boards or plastic encasing) at least within about 40min ;)

Somehow this format screwed up my question; here it is again: Dell Ultrasharp 2407wfpb 24" widescreen LCD monitor goes black (with the back light on) after a while and then won't allow me to power it off or switch to any other input. After unplugging it and then plugging it back in it will do the same thing after a shorter period of time; indicating that it's an overheating problem of some kind. I took it apart and looked at all the boards with magnifying glass' and can see nothing;( Ran it for about 30 min. with the heat shielding & cover off and it didn't repeat the problem, so I put it all back together. Had it going for about 20 - 25 min. and it goes to the black;( Could not see any caps that were swollen on top; next thought is a cold solder joint, unless there is someone who know their sh__? Please HELP!

Sounds more like a digital board problem than anything. Dell's OEM for your model is Benq. They made a ton of these units, so it's a trivial task to find replacement parts second hand. If you believe it is heat related, you can use a hair dryer to heat up different parts of the assembly to reproduce the symptom while the unit is apart. Either that or drill some holes in the metal shielding to promote better airflow inside the unit. Dell Ultrasharp 2407wfpb 24

SOURCE: Dell LCD E207WFP (Switches on Briefly then goes Off)

two case trouble reason and need to do:
1) back light driver (inverter) works not stable and DC power protect. it near some component damage, should repair inverter by egineer.
2) back light (lamp) over life cycle so protect by the inverter, should change new lamp (regular parts)
3) DC power supply not stable or component over life( wave filter capacitor), should be replaced

Can someone identify the part number of IC 651 and Q654 in my 2407WFPb Dell Monitor?

Why are people giving their opinions rather then answering the question? My monitor just died and I need to replace the main power filter cap and transistor Q654, I need the part number for transistor Q654 as I think the OP does as well.

The monitor just made a pop and no longer works. How do you take apart to check if there is a fuse

2407 is almost the same as 2408 picture I have here, just be real careful not to move the front bezel too far from the chassis or you will break the cable! Use thin flat blade screw driver or special tool as shown in the video and work around the bezel REAL SLOW!

Black screen - lights indicate receiving video signal

You will have to open it up and inspect the inside for burnt parts, bad caps, bad solder joints. This model is really delicate to take apart, must be real careful not to break the front panel ribbon cable. 2408wfp is almost the same as 2407.

Black screen

• 1) TAKE OUT YOUR LAPTOP BATTERY
• 2) REMOVE YOUR AC ADAPTOR CORD, that's the wall power, remove it.
• 3) NOW HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR 30 SECONDS.

That will drain any static electricity that has built up on your laptop system board and many times fixes the problem of a black screen. After the 30 seconds re-connect your laptop to the wall power and hit the power button normally and see if the laptop comes back up.

Replace your battery.
Restart!

Dell 2407wfpb lights on but stays blank..

Shine a bright light on the screen and press the Menu button... if you can barely see the outline of the menu come up in the middle of the screen, it means that your inverter / backlight needs to be replaced. You can get a new backlight / inverter for relatively cheap, so if you can do the repair yourself, it's worthwhile.
Otherwise it's the LCD panel itself, in which case you should go monitor shopping.

Dell 2407WFPb Monitor will not reset to 1920x1200

In display properties or ATI utilities, there may be an option such as 'hide modes this monitor doesn't support' or 'show all modes'. If so, you may be able to set your resolution by using this option.

Also, check in the BIOS for any settings related to display mode support. Otherwise, you will need to contact the Mboard manufacture site for possible BIOS settings probably limiting access to this resolution.

Dell 1901FP monitor

It is probably either a CCFL back light issue inside the LCD or a set of capacitors on the inverter/power supply board.
Would you be willing to part with it ?
