I THINK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE BOBBIN CARRIER AND BOBBIN. THERE'S A COUPLE DIFFERENT TYPES. THE ONE THAT IS MORE DIFFICULT I'LL EXPLAIN. THE OTHER ONE IS MOSTLY DROP IN. HERE WE GO:
1. WHEN YOU LOOK DOWN ON IT YOU WILL SEE A GIZMO THAT MOVES ON THE LEFT. IT SWINGS ONE WAY OR THE OTHER SO THAT IT IS AWAY FROM THE CENTER.
2. ON THE RIGHT THERE IS A SCREW (USUALLY TWO) BUT THE ONE NEAREST TO YOU NEEDS TO BE LOOSENED SO YOU CAN MOVE IT OVER SLIGHTLY.
3 PUT YOUR BOBBIN CARRIER/BOBBIN IN. MAKE SURE THE CARRIER IS ON THE RACE TRACK (WHERE IT WILL BE SLIDING). IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO PUT ONE DROP OF SEWING MACHINE OIL THERE FIRST. USUALLY YOU WILL NEED TO USE YOUR HAND WHEEL TO ROTATE THE HOOK SO IT IS THE FURTHEST AWAY FROM YOU.
4. NOW YOU CAN LOCK THE BOBBIN CARRIER IN BY MOVING THE PARTS ON BOTH SIDES THAT YOU MOVED PREVIOUSLY. IT IS IMPORTANT TO LOCK IN WHERE THE INDENTATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN MADE ON THE CARRIER. NOW, TRY TO TURN THE HAND WHEEL. IT SHOULD MOVE EASILY. AS YOU CONTINUE TO TURN THE BOTTOM AND TOP THREAD SHOULD GO UP TOGETHER. IF THE BOTTOM THREAD GETS STUCK SLIGHTLY YOU WILL NEED TO ADJUST THE PART ON THE BOBBIN CARRIER HOLDER SO IT IS AWAY FROM THE CARRIER JUST A HALF OF A HAIR'S THICKNESS. THE THREAD HAS TO RIDE ACROSS THE TOP OF THE CARRIER W/O GETTING STUCK.

SOURCE: Can't reassemble shuttle hook and shuttle race

the hook driver (still in machine) is 1/2 moon shape. The hook is also 1/2 moon shape. If you set the machine on its back, it's easier. Set the hook 1/2 into the other 1/2 of the hook driver to make a circle. Then put the hook cover on (machine still on its back) with the tabs for the twist locks pointed out. Needle gaurd to the top of the machine. Snap the twist locks in place and viola!

SOURCE: where is the shuttle race on a bernina artista

Just to the left of the bobbin case you will see a small lever. Remove the bobbin case and push the lever and that will release the latch which holds the race cover and shuttle (hook).

Clean well with a toothbrush and place one small drop of oil on the edge of the hook where it makes contact with the raceway. Place the hook back and snap the race cover back on.

SOURCE: I removed the bobbin because of a thread lock.

When you put the hook in the pin that the bobbin case goes on should point towards you(this may work easier if you tilt the machine back slightly) it should fit in firmly then when this is in place put the locking ring in in front of it. on the bottom there is a pin that means that it can only go in one way but it can be put in backwards so be sure to put the plate on top it goes into the machine(there should be cut outs for the holders or little pins for the holders to go over) the tabs that hold the ring in place should always go from the top down and they will click in place.

SOURCE: I need a diagram to re-assemble the shuttle race

Hi, if you go to sears parts direct and put your model #in you will get a diagram of the parts and how they go together. Looks like you have a real classic there. If, you cannot figure it out from the diagrams, try and find a reliable repairman, someone who has been in business for a few years. Good luck, Happy New Year

Should the machine have some oil? Where? It is a Bernina Activa 130

The Activa range is fitted with a light-weight part-plastic hook/shuttle that Bernina claims does not require oiling. However, this does not mean it shouldn't be regularly cleaned and I'd recommend that it is also lightly oiled at the same time. Remove the bobbin case, press the metal lever to the top left of the bobbin door and the black plastic hook/shuttle retainer should pop open so that the hook/shuttle can be removed, or it will just drop out anyway. Use a cotton bud to firmly clean around the inside edge of the hook race (the round piece that the hook/shuttle sits in. Give the whole thing a good clean to make sure any surface grime/fluff is removed. Put a small drop of oil on the running surface of the hook race - the recessed groove around the inside edge, before replacing the hook/shuttle and holding in place by pressing the hook/shuttle retainer back until the securing lever clicks back into place. Rotate the handwheel once to distribute the oil and off you go. Dont overoil but do this regularly and your machine will run much quieter and produce a consistent stitch formation.

I took out the bobbin case and then the shuttle race. Now I can't remember which one I should put back in first.

Clean the shuttle area, the hook and the cover with a toothbrush, removing all lint and debris. Place one small drop of sewing machine oil on the rim of the hook. Place the hook back in the raceway and replace the cover. Snap the two retaining levers back to hold the cover in place.

Brother XL-2022 Bobbin Problem

Removable parts are the race and bobbin case.

Raise the needle to it's at the highest position and set the race hook into the shuttle so the hook is at the lower left.

Re-place the hook race cover and move the levers or pegs to hold the cover in place.

How to install bobbin

In the shuttle area there is a silver round piece- called the shuttle race cover. It has a black ear on the right and a black ear on the left. Push the right ear to the right, and the left ear to the left and the silver ring should come out. Behind the silver ring is the bobbin case stuck in the hook. Remove that, jiggle it, move it, just work the bobbin case out of the hook. Now put the hook back in the machine. In the machine there is a driver that looks like a half moon. Your hook looks like a half moon- make a full circle out of both of them. Re-install the race cover, pushing the left ear to the right and the right ear to the left to secure the race cover, and your problem should be solved.

Can't reassemble the shuttle/hook in Singer sewing machine - it is Model # 1120 - an inexpensive machine but works great. It jammed and I released the retaining clamps (?) and the other little parts fell...

Turn the hand wheel until the hook race is in the left position..replace the hook to right side...replace the hook race cover..smooth end to the bottom..and snap back the hook retaining arms...now ready for inserting bobbin case...Good Luck

Shuttle hook

Hello ZAckofun
The shuttle hook will be covered by a plate called the RACE. Its a flat steel plate that sits over the hook and is snapped in place by 2 black coloured snaps.
Looks like you are trying to operate the machine without the race on. try that and it should work.
