Question about Samsung RS2530BWP (25 cu ft) Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

What part Samsung RS2530BWP uses, Sensor or Bar

My freezer side is not defrosting and trying to narrow down the problem. 2) Opened the panel, removed Defrost Thermostat and placed in ice and checked the for continuity. my Volt meter started to change numbers and stopped at 0.3 and sometime 0.2. Please advise if this means faulty part. 2) I see two parts on this website which i am confused about as to which one samsung RS2530BWP uses and how to test if the one i have is faulty. a) Samsung Refrig Temperature Bar DA32-00029A b) Samsung Refrig Sensor DA32-00006W Thanks in advance.

Hi Fazal Iqbal, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?

also check the fan is rotating in the freezer {at the back behind the panel } if the fan cant rotate then the element will overheat and fail the thermal fuse

  • Anonymous Dec 10, 2014

i think as the fan failed the heating element {anti frost system} has blown its inline thermal fuse because the fan isnt there to blow the heat from the compartment the fuse will overheat and fail so check this using a multimeter and confirm the element has resistance

Either the heating element used to defrost is bad
or there is usualty a small inline thermal fuse
replace it
test the elements resistance is aok
look on ebay for a new inline fuse and also element save the grief of testing

The issue started with not enough cooling in fridge and freezer both. And as per troubleshooting steps i opened the back cover and cleaned all dust and found fan by compressor not spinning so i got that replaced and since the unit was kept off all night, it was fully defrost and upon turning it on it started working for week and same issue again. Thought it might be sensor and start reaearching for parts and found DA32-00006W which is the upgraded version of DA32-00029A. As the panel in the freezer was opened i found the heating element to be in pretty bad shape with rust and a broken wire in one of the glass tube.To save time and avoid testing headache, i went a head and replaced freezer sensor, thermostat sensor and heating element which was obviously bad and motherboard.
It has been two days and so far no issues. I will post further if i find any issues. Hope this $130 parts investment will last another 4 to 5 years.

    Thanks

You have to pull out the sensor from the board and test with tester, both sensor should read the resistance of 10,000 to 20,000 ohms. The reading that you show is very low it means that the thermistor is out of range and need replacement.

Hi mminottoi2004,

It uses a defrost element, built into the evaporator to melt the ice once every 1 - 2 hours. I suspect one of the sensors are failing, or the defrost element is faulty or worse.

You can test the defrost element with a decent multimeter, make sure power is getting to it, in at least 1 to 11/2 hours. If no power ever reaches the element, even when the compressor shuts off, then more likely the problem is the PCB. If power does reach it, but it does not get warm, the defrost emelent needs replacing.

Testing sensors on Samsung models are nearly impossible, so I am not even going to advise it. The resistance readings never make sense.

So in a nutshell: 1) Faulty Defrost Element or 2) Faulty Sensors or 3) Faulty PCB.

Kind Regards

JEDEMEYER1

most refriderators have an evap tube on the back of the fridge over time this will get all gummed out and will not allow the water to evaporate cause it to freeze try unclogging this tube with a pen or pencil go slow however you dont want to damage internals by jamming the pen in there hope this helps

Verify that the compressor fan is working. The fan is located behind the unit at the bottom. You need to remove tha back panel and observe that the fan is working while the compressor is running.

I have a samsung side by side srs537nw. both side are not working properly. the fridge wont cool and the freezer turn into a fridge.

Had exactly the same problem. Found the cooling coils are not defrosting, everything was iced up inside the back panels. The drain was blocked, water pooling underneath also.

Remove all the plastic panels in the back of the freezer, including the temp. sensor (unplug) and fan (unplug). Defrost everything with a hair drier.

Make sure that the drain at the bottom is free, a small plastic tube which takes water down into a pan where it is evaporated by the compressor etc.

Replace the defrost sensor - the most likely faulty part. This costs about $Au 20.00 from Samsung (just ask for a defrost sensor for the model of fridge). This sensor fits in a plastic cage attached to the top of the cooling coils, has wires which plug into a socket. Reassemble the fridge and see if this has solved the problem.

If the fridge still does not defrost automatically, you may need to replace the circuit board ($Au 80.00 from Samsung). This board is found from the back of the fridge, in a plastic box behind a back panel at the bottom of the back of the fridge. Lots of wires to unplug!

There may be other problems, like a faulty thermostat on the valve which controls circulation of cold air into the fridge from the freezer, I have no experience of solving this.

Samsung mechanics are HOPELESS in my experience, replacing the two parts above will be less expensive than a call to them. Good luck!

you will need to use a blow dryer and defrost the back wall.Once that is defrosted then you will need to remove the back panel and defrost the evaporator coil.

There are several things that can go wrong the temp thermostat, defrost thermostat, defrost heater,or control board.you will also need to check the evap fan and make sure it is working.

It could be a problem with the air damper but.... I doubt it.

Down load this manual and go to page 29 of the pdf file,
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag_library/docs/SAM0074.pdf

You will see this:

Self-Diagnostics in the normal operation

2-1) To select this function, press Power Freeze and Power Cool buttons simultaneously for 8 seconds with an audible

tone.

2-2) In the self diagnostic mode, only corresponding LED segments will be illuminated (see the check list on the next

page)
2-3) After a 30 second illumination of error signal, the system will return to the normal operation.

Note the position of the LED in the temp windows and the side that it appears on. Then see the Control panel LED legend along with the corresponding position legend listed below listed on page 30 for interpetation. This should tell you what has failed.
Make sure to read the Details of each failure on page 30 also.

This is the legend.
