One likely cause is a blocked optical sensor . Try these three things, in order, and check the printer after each:
- Pick up the printer, turn it upside down, and shake it. If 40 pounds is too much for you to lift, get a friend to help. Or, better yet, get a friend to do it without your help.
- Using an air compressor with a blow gun attachment, direct air to the paper path entry and exit, and to the sides of the platen. Then look for torn-off tractor feed bits of paper in the crevices. You may need tweezers or needle-nose pliers.
- Take the cover off and repeat the previous step with the air compressor. This is tricky. Use this as a last resort, as the printer may not be usable after a troublesome disassembly. Do this only if you're going to have to replace it otherwise.

SOURCE: Describe your Tally Matrix T2280 Prion power up

Calibrating the temperature resolves the THS error in most cases.

The ‘Temp Cal’ functions can be carried out in the following way;

· Start with the printer powered OFF and at normal room temperature
· Hold down the ONLINE and SETUP button and power the printer back on
· Keep the ONLINE and SETUP button held down until the display reads ‘PRINT TEMP. CAL’ along the top line
· Press the button under ‘TEMP CAL’ (button 3)
· Using buttons 2 or 3 change the Temp Setting to match the temperature of the room the printer is used in (change this value by at least 1 degree even if it is correct to force the printer into recalibrating.
· Then press SET to save the settings.

If the printer continues to display the THS error, the problem can be caused by;

Incorrectly seated print head
Damaged or incorrectly seated head cable
Fault with Main Board, Interconnect Board or the print head.

Either the power supply in not generating proper 48 Volts or the controller board is not detecting a 48V output from the power supply.
First of all make ensure that power supply and controller board are correctly connected (check for loose contacts). Unfortunately there's not much you can do. The problem is either in the power supply or the controller board. There is a special tool for testing the power supply and deciding whether to change the power supply or the controller. From what i've seen in the field, most of the times its the power supply that fails. I can send you the power supply test procedure. If youre interested letme know your email.

My hp photosmart c180 doesn't run even with a new power supply

Hi,
If the printer shows no signs of power, verify that the power cord is plugged into the printer securely.
Visit this link and see the video and follow the troubleshooting steps. If it can be fixed by you it will be fixed.
IF you are still unable to turn your printer on then most probably the internal power supply has failed. You will have to remove the case to test it.
Again, a multimeter is required. The power supply will output 18V DC when the power is plugged in.
But I advise you to attempt this only if you are technical person and your device is out of warranty.
Or you should contact HP for repair.

Dvd player will not come on. problem seems to have started after a brown out

It is very possible the internal fuse burnt out. If not the fuse, then possibly the power supply burnt out. You can test the power supply with a voltmeter.

My HP printer C5188 does not turn on. There is no display and shows orange exclamation sign only permanently. Power buttom also does not light up.

Unplug and disconnect the printer from the computer. Wait about 30 seconds, then plug power into the printer. See if you can turn on the printer and run the self-test. If no go, try pluging printer directly into an outlet (Bypass and Power supply or power strip) see if any change.
If the printer will not run the self-test stand alone, then it likely has an internal failure, clear any paper paths, check to make sure printer is properly closed and AC adapter properly connected. If no change, and under warranty, I'd see about getting the printer serviced.
If printer will self-test stand alone, then try these HP steps:

I don't have the error codes but I suspect the problem is 50Hz line frequency, States side line frequency is 60Hz. A power supply needs to be compatible with the type of input power you are plugging it in to. Check the Data plate on the power supply or on the back of the machine and see if it is rated for 50Hz.

If it’s only rated for 60Hz you need a compatible power supply. Hopefully the power supply is the external type. It looks like a black box (or a brick) connected to the cord that plugs into the printer. Just change it with a compatible power supply.

If it’s a internal type it can be changed or modified for 50Hz but finding a technician that can do that work might be hard.

Good luck

Xerox Phaser fault 37,002,47:18505

37,0XX.xx Errors - PEST Faults
AC power supplied by power sources such as uninterruptible power supplies
(UPSs) or DC-to-AC inverter systems may not supply correct voltage to
properly power up the printer. Likewise, other devices sharing the same AC
circuit can cause AC voltage sags that cause the printer to fail its AC heater
PEST tests (Print Engine Self Test). The printer may produce any of the
following disconnected heater errors:
■ Printhead jet-stack 37,002.47 or 37,003.48

Error Messages and Codes
■ Reservoir heater, 37,004.40 or 37,005.41
■ Drum heater error 37,006.42
■ Preheater error 37,008.44
■ Ink melters errors 37,009.45 thru 37,013.40
The printer includes several heaters powered by AC. The printer itself can
power up despite insufficient or irregular AC voltage but it may fail its AC
heater tests. This is due the test not measuring sufficient current flowing
through the heater at the moment the test runs.
Devices sharing the printer’s AC circuit shared, such as a laser printer, a
coffee maker, or a space heater, may be placing heavy intermittent demand
on the AC circuit. This sudden inductive demand creates momentary AC
voltage sag that causes the PEST test to fail.
Verify the AC power source prior to troubleshooting these errors. For wiring
diagrams to aid in diagnosing PEST faults, see “Wiring Diagrams” on
page 10-1.
8400/8500/8550/8560 PEST Description
37,001.46: Generic PEST error.
Something went wrong during the PEST process.
37,002.47: PEST Error - Printhead Left jetstack disconnect. The left jetstack is
not drawing the expected power from the supply.

INTERNAL ERROR--FALSE

My printer was able to print an "INTERNAL ERROR - FALSE, Position: 0x1227e (74366)" error message as well as a test page, but not documents sent to print.

However, the problem was fixed once I switched to another USB port as the person above mentioned. So for any other people with similar problems, try that! In addition to power cycling the printer (I did that first)
