Question about Plumbing

1 Answer

We had an Ideal Standard single faucet in our kitchen. The handle fell out. We tried to screw it back in but the screw thread on the faucet seemed to be worn and the handle does not stay in. Is there any way to fix this apart from replacing the whole faucet? Or is there any place in Auckland, New Zealand where we can buy spare parts? Thanks. David.

The handle on the Ideal Standard single faucet in our kitchen fell out.

All sorts of things come to mind. Get on your computer and track the company and see if they offer replacement parts or an upgrade. Looks like you'll need to drill the hole and retap the threads. OR go down to a Michael's if you have one or any place that would sell wooden dowels. Find one that is a tad larger and whittle it to fit the hole. Use teak or something strong. It won't look stock but if you do it nicely you can stain the wood and make it look good, spray some clear on it to make it water-proof. You can also try running a tap through the threads to see if the threads can be repaired. Long shot but if you are on GREAT terms with the Powers, a small miracle would be nice ... but it CAN HAPPEN> I have run taps through some beaten threads and they have come back to life. The last option would be to have a machine shop make another steel dowel but thread it for the next size up and drill and tap the hole to match.

Moen annabelle faucet handle fell off

1st put the DOME cap on by rotating it 180 degrees, to go OVER the white plastic gasket, then press on. Then you have to get that plastic square knob inside the dome, in a downward postition, thus TURNING the WATER ON, to work the handle back in place. Put the set screw on with an (tiny) allen stick wrenchy thingy.

My screw broke off inside the forcet on the hot water in my shower how can i put a new one on?????? The handle fell off first. then mom started using plyers to turn on and off. then screw broke

Only two ways, First thing you could try an ezout but might be to small, Second you could replace the cartridge witch would give you new threads but you still would need the screw. They are both available at lowes home improvement center.

Removal of single hole kithcen faucet.

There is a bracket that slides between the threaded shaft and the bottom of the sink. There is usually a nut which is tightened up against this bracket. When this nut is loosened, the bracket will slide out. Of course, you first have to unfasten the two water supply lines. Once the bracket is removed, the two water lines which are made into the faucet are gently bent and the whole thing is removed from the top of the sink. Hope this helps.
