Question about LaCie Ethernet Disk Mini, 500 GB Hard Disk Drive with Gigabit Ethernet & USB 2.0 Interface, 7200 rpm... IDE Hard Drive
I have a LaCie edmini v2 that i found in the trash at work. It seems to work, but i could not connect it in my network since it was locked with a password. Stupidly enough i dident think twice and plugged the harddrive to windows with a sata cable and formated the whole drive. Now it seems that the operating system is all gone. Im pretty handy of myself, but would really need some assistance with this if possible. Could anyone give me a detailed explanation of how i can manage to get the operating system back. Thank you! Regards.
Your best bet is to contact LaCie and request a replacement CD-ROM for the setup utilities and an OS image for the server software. The alternative is to download the USB drivers (which model has an external SATA port?) and roll your own server. Most recent distros of Linux or FreeBSD should support the hardware, if you can figure out what CPU it needs to run on.
Good luck, and try to have fun with it. ;)

if it is a USB (or you have low disc space), it does take longer to show up on desktop and patience is required... on my iBook it takes over a minute for my Brick to show up... Whether it is USB or firewire, do try another cord (I had similar problem with my lacie firewire external... I used a different firewire cord and all was fine. If you have tried these already, I hope you find the answer... good luck

It's the drive's interface. If you open up the case, take the drive out and put it into another caddy, it will work fine. I have had this problem before.
