Actually this year the flu has mutated since the vaccine came out so the vaccine is now no good they should be coming out with a newer vaccine sometime soon. many people have been becoming very sick and there has also been many deaths this year from this year's flu.

The vials are clearly labeled. If you take the vaccine, you will get this year's cure. Ask to read the label if you don't trust your heathcare professional.

Does the flu vaccine contain 25,000 times more mercury than legally allowed in drinking water?

Not sure but wouldn't have thought so. I have been taking the injection for over 20 years and I am still fine.

Is there mercury in flu vaccines given to children?

The short answer is no.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved several formulations of the seasonal flu vaccine, including multi-dose vials and single-dose units. (See Table of Approved Influenza Vaccines for the U.S. 2014-2015 Season.) Since seasonal influenza vaccine is produced in large quantities for annual vaccination campaigns, some of the vaccine is produced in multi-dose vials, and contains thimerosal to safeguard against possible contamination of the vial once it is opened.

The single-dose units are made without thimerosal as a preservative because they are intended to be opened and used only once. Additionally, the live-attenuated version of the vaccine (the nasal spray vaccine), is produced in single-dose units and does not contain thimerosal.

Thimerosal is mercury based compound but its use has decreased as most vaccines are single dose today.

If I get the whooping cough vaccine, can I still catch it?

There is no such thing as a completely fool proof vaccine. Some people don't get proper immunization from their vaccine and get whooping cough but it's usually a much milder case and it's less likely to infect other people.

Is there a vaccine for whooping cough?

Yes there is a vaccine given to children - called the DTaP, that is a 5 shot series that starts at age 2months and ends at 7 years. It's a really important vaccine.

What are some of the side effects of the flu vaccine?

You may feel some light flu-like symptoms after getting the flu shot. You might feel some aches and pains and cold like symptoms such as a runny nose, cough or sore throat.
But you should bear in mind that the benefits of the vaccine far outweigh the side effects

Are there any people in particular who should get the flu vaccine?

The flu shot (vaccine) is recommended for anyone over the age of 6 months, but in particular for people who are considered high risk such as; children, people over the age of 50, pregnant woman, adults with chronic conditions such as asthma, or heart conditions etc

How does the flu shot actually work?

The flu shot causes anti bodies to develop in your body that then protect you against infection from the flu virus. It takes about 2 weeks for the vaccine to work and whilst it can cause fatigue and muscle aches, it can't 'give you' the flu.

Does the flu vaccine cover you for all types of flu?

The vaccine protects against 3 of the main flu strains; the two type A flu bugs and one type B. These are the most common and virulent of the strains. It doesn't mean you won't still get a different strain of flu, it just lowers the chances.

1 Answer

Are there different types of flu shots available?

: Yes, there are four main types of flu shots available:

1; The traditional flu shot that is injected into the muscle. It contains flu-particles but will not give you the flu.

2; The high-dose shot that is the same as the shot above but contains a higher dose

3; The intradermal flu shot that contains the same vaccine as the others but can be injected just skin deep and can be used on people age 18 to 64.

4; The nasal spray vaccine that can be used on people age 2 to 49. It contains a live, weakened flu virus.

Your doctor will advise you which of the vaccines is best for you.

1 Answer

What is the flu shot? Everyone seems to be talking about it.

The flu shot is the flu vaccine that is given once a year to prevent the flu. It's primarily given to children, people with sicknesses and the elderly but given how many people are hospitalized with flu each year, it's becoming increasingly popular for people to get the shot no matter their age.
