Hello Eric;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.
In general all appliances require a special bulb; your oven, refrigerator - the bulbs are designed for the service - extreme hot or extreme cold.
These bulbs are expensive.

2) Check wire nuts are tight Remove light bulb and spray WD40 into socket. Reinstall light bulb
3) Reset timer using paper clip or tooth pick, then reprogram to see if functionality is restored
4) Move timer to different location and see if it controls different light
5) Buy another 15071 from home depot. Remove bad timer, take photo of wires, and install new timer same wire-for-wire. Return bad timer to home depot in new package. This is GE's extended warranty plan, but do not mention warranty at return desk.
If the unit has a 30 amp/220volt plug, then you will need a dedicated 30 amp outlet from a 220 volt line from the panel. You can not switch the plug to work with a regular (15-20 amp) outlet. Have an electrician install a 10 gauge 220 line from the panel to the unit. good luck!
Melanie, you must have gotten a bad batch of bulbs. I have installed over 100 Hampton Bay ceiling fans and I have dropped them from up the ladder and have them bounce across the floor with no damage. I think they must have allowed a substandard batch to go out.
Home Depot is where I buy my replacement bulbs. Hampton Bay make fans exclusively for HD.
You can easily change lighting bases, as the wiring is the same for all Hampton Bay. You may even appeal to Hampton Bay on the internet and they might send you the kits. But I don't think you'd have success in a store.
If you try replacing them with bulbs from another Home Depot you may find them much hardier. I wish you the best of luck, and if you need additional help please write back.
Try REVEAL brand DOUBLE LIFE ceiling fan light bulbs, available from HOME DEPOT. The filament in those bulbs is much thicker than any others, and the one I installed on my own Sears GDO has lasted 3 months so far, compared to one week for others I have tried.
