My patio mushroom heater lights up ok but keeps going out by itself after about 5 to 10 minutes and then can be started again inatantainiously by starting pilot light and away you go until it goes out...

Hello,
Here's a few things to check. When you light the pilot, is it a strong blue pilot flame, a weak blue flame or a lazy yellow flame? Is it heating the thermocouple enough to make it red hot after a few minutes? If the pilot is small blue or lazy yellow flame, it may be dirty and need cleaned. When the burner lights, the weak pilot flame may diminish causing the thermocouple to cool off enough to shut down the main burner. Clean the dirty pilot orifice by using a can of compressed air with attached straw. (The same canned air you use to clean computer keyboards) Blow it into the pilot assembly where the pilot flame burns out from and blow thru the air holes on the side, if applicable. You might also check the thermocouple itself to make sure the tip is not partially burn't off. It should be a smooth, rounded tip. Replace the thermocouple if cleaning the pilot orifice doesn't solve the problem. Douglas

I have a glow warm ventless heater and the pilot goes out every 1

Take the 4 screws out and remove the front of the heater. Then blow the dust and cobwebs out with compressed air, I have to do it once a year. The pilot will get dust and hair in it. Hope this helps.

Glo-Warm Model #WMN20 20,000btu. Can hold down and ignite the pilot but as soon as i let go the pilot goes out and with out igniting the unit.

WITH THE HEATER OFF, clean the pilot flame unit with a can of compressed air. Blow directly into flame hole then try it again. if it continues to "not" stay lit then you need a new thermocouple.

Try to take pilot assembly apart and clean real good. This will work most of the time. If it does not work for you, you will need to replace the gas valve. It's expensive but I'm about positive that cleaning it will fix it. Gas burns dirty and after a couple seasons a scale builds up that causes this problem. It's pretty common and nothing to worry about after it's cleaned. Good luck.

Pilotlight will not light, getting spark, but no propane.

make sure you have the gas valve knob on turned to pilot while pressing that down while pushing the spark it should light or it is tripped on a safety like rollout switch or oxygen depletion sensor if equipped which all ventless heaters are

Comfort glo propane ventless heater won't light

I have several of these heaters in my rent houses and love them. The most problem I have is not being able to ignite the pilot with the user control igniter. Remove the screws that hold the front cover in place along with the front cover. Hold the pilot control down and ignite with a lighter. Keep the pilot engaged until thermocouple is warm enough to keep pilot gas flowing. If it will light this way then you need to blow out the pilot orifice. It seems that every year I have to go in after the summer season when the heater is off and clean the pilot/orifice lines with high pressure air. I believe spiders/bugs/dust block pilot orifice when it is not in use. You can also tell that orifice is blocked when you don't get a good blue pilot flame with pressure behind it allowing the flame to submerse the thermocouple. If the the thermocouple is not getting enought heat it will turn pilot gas off for safety reasons.

We had a problem keeping the pilot light to stay on, and this site recommended that it could possibly be the thermocoupler that was causing our problems also. We ordered the thermocouple, put it on,hooked it back up and it worked great! Thank you so much.
