SOURCE: hi i have a toshiba

On the motherboard you can remove or short the battery backup of the CMOS (the chip that holds the software part, which is called the BIOS). This will reset the BIOS to factory defaults.

SOURCE: how to installing windows 7 on r500?

Hello,

First, try removing the ram chips and clean the gold contacts on them gently with a pink pencil eraser. Now try a reinsall. If you still have errors then you probably need to replace the hard drive. I have seen this type of thing many times before, and it is usually the hard drive.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: laptop came with windows 7 factory installed on it. A friend accidently formatted the hard drive.

Either download an installer disk on to a DVD or partition a harddrive with an installer disk on it. Boot from that disk and restart the computer, it should boot up and ask to install Windows 7.

MY QUESTION IS HOW DO I Disable the "SECURITY FREEZE LOCK" on my hitachi HTS54503289a300, 320 GB sata hard Drive? originally WAS INTALLED IN MY ACER TRAVELMATE LAPTOP NANUFACTURED IN 2012 BUT THE LAP

Maybe if you can format the disk-but you loose data, maybe there is a program that can do it, probably in linux, or bootable itself, maybe ask acer for master password or something, if you still own original laptop and it runs then try to remove disk encryption while the hdd is accessible with laptop (i think its in bios), otherwise the hdd may be unusable to prevent data theft. you can plug any sata hdd into any sata device if you can hook all the cables, no compatibility issues there. try googling and youtubing for more answers

Simply formatting the hard drive does not remove all residual traces of the previous installation. When you get to the step for formatting, go to the advanced button and delete the partition that contained windows 8. Then create a new partition in the space, format, and install windows 7.

Formatted HDD wont install windows 7 ULT disc

It may be that your BIOS is not setup to boot from CD before HDD. To get to the BIOS, look for the message for getting into the BIOS on the first screen after rebooting. There are many versions of the BIOS depending on the computer, but usually its F1, esc, del, F2, F3. It should say which to push on the first screen after rebooting. Look in the BIOS fot boot order, then put CD drive as the first boot order. Then save by either hitting F10, or pressing esc. This will make it so it looks for a boot.ini on the CD before firing up the HDD. Some CDs/DVD's will boot on their own, but usually it will say 'Press any key to boot from CD'. Press that and go from there. I would choose the option to format the drive before it installs, since the way you did it might not of erased it all the way. (Usually a clean formatted HDD will say 'Missing Operating System', not boomgr missing). Try that first then let me know if this worked for you. Also, if you are using an windows 7 upgrade disk, it will not work. Has to be the complete operating system disk for a clean install.

My computer wont boot correctly

won't boot at all?
it's probably the BIOS settings
go to the BIOS settings by pressing F8 or DEL
go to advanced settings
look for "boot device priority" or something like that
set the first priority device as your harddisk
save & exit,restart,happy computing

the "boot device priority" maybe not placed on advanced setting, each BIOS has different interfaces, just look for something like that,it's easy

Go into the Bios or Setup. When you press the power button look for the key that it says to hit to get into the Bios or System Setup. Hit that key. Look for AHCI in the bios and change the setting. Maybe set it to SATA or something, but change it. Then try reloading your operating system.

All you need to do is put the operating system disk in the drive and let it do the rest. It will delete the old partition and format the drive for you if you tell it to. Actually you just want one big contiguous partition which is the easiest way so if you have multiple partitions delete them and let it install into one big contiguous partition.

yes quite right.. when u start the install process I'm sure you noticed that it asked you to press F6 to install any 3rd party RAID / Sata drivers.. these can be downloaded from the manufactures web site..

what concerns me is that windows 7 Ultimate has these drivers built in!!! did u try windows 7 ultimate ???? not the OEM version that ships with systems ,, use a full version..

also DO a full format not a quick format.. when win 7 or xp instillation boots,, delete all partitions and do a full format..
if that fails u need to replace the hardrive,, A dead harddrive will give the same error!!!

It is normal, after a C:\ drive format, to lose all your information from that partition, including last known configuration and system restore points. If you weren't able to enter Windows 7 Ultimate do a clean reinstall. Also, immediately after Windows installation, install the latest drivers.
If something else happened, please let me know so I can tell you what to do.
