Bolts rotate counterclockwise to tighten so go clockwise to remove.

SOURCE: bolt comes loose and rip cord is yanked from hand

  1. block off the blade and driver assembly with a 2x4 to keep it from moving
  2. remove the flywheel nut (regular hand force should be sufficient)
  3. tap the 3 holes on the flywheel (if they aren't already threaded) using 1/4inch 20national tap set
  4. remove the flywheel using a flywheel puller -- a harmonic balancer puller which matches the tecumseh bolt pattern on the flywheel also works using 3 1/4inch thread (20national, 2inch long) bolts with washers
  5. NOTE: (if the blade was removed/reinstalled, tighten the blade to manufacturer's spec of 60lbs) before installing the new flywheel key
  6. remove the sheared flywheel key
  7. clean up the flywheel (wipe off all the dirt and grease)
  8. install the new flywheel key (part 611004 for toro 20016)
  9. install the flywheel (pull the bail brake handle to get the ball-brake inside the flywheel)
  10. tighten the flywheel nut to manufacturer's spec of 37.5lbs
  11. prime the gas bulb, give it a pull and mow away

Sounds like a piece of wood is caught under/between the impellor and the case/housing. When removing the impellor, you may find it has a left hand threaded nut.

SOURCE: replace toro lawn bower blade

the bolts are torqued at the factory to a very high degree. you need a socket wrench with a long piece of 1 inch cast iron at the inserted at the end of the handle this will give you the leverage needed to loosen (and then re-tighten ) the bolt after you replace the blade

SOURCE: Toro lawnmower appears flooded and won't start.

Actually all you have to do is take out the spark plug and pull the engine through several times. What has happened is the intake valve was open when you tipped the motor so when the fuel ran out of the carb into the engine it saturated the spark plug. You may have to by another spark plug to get it started or dry yours out very well. The main thing is to make sure that most of the liquid gas has exited the cylinder.

One more thing.... the float needle may have tilted a bit in the seat as a result of haging it tipped on its side. This is going to sound a bit strange BUT... grasp the handle and alternately bang the front and rear wheels on the ground a couple of times by lifting the back of the mower with the handle about 2 inches and drop it. Do the same by pressing down on the handle for the front tires. (2 inches and drop)

This should get you going. IF not just respond here and we can continue troubleshooting.

Have a toro 2450 5 hp snowblower used to throw snow at least 8ft now lucky to go 1ft changed belt last year thought that was problem but didn't fix the problem any suggestions? Thank you

Just a thought. Is the belt tight or does it slip when you put pressure on it. Check and see if the impeller outfit is plugged. Mine did that and it was plugged with an old shirt I picked up in the snow. Can you turn the impeller by hand when the engine is shut down. If so could be a shear pin broke off in the impeller.

Can the plastic impeller on a model 51591 be replaced with a metal #100-9076

Probably but the problem will be when vacuuming
plastic impellers absorb shock from stones and other hard objects, where as metal blades will break off causing an imbalance of the impeller

Install scarper blade toro powerlite mod. 38182

On everyone I have ever seen, there are just three bolts that go through it into the auger housing. There is a notch that the scraper has that fits on to the end of the housing. You can see the drawing for it here -
I just picked one of the models for 38182 cause i think they are likely all the same, but if you want to be sure, use the list here - and choose the one that matches your serial number range. Then select the drawing to see the rotor assembly. Should be pretty easy except sometimes the heads of the bolts to keep the scraper on get wore down if the scraper bar wasn't changed when it should have been.

I'm not asking about a leaf blower It's a toro snowthrower model # 38600. what's the proper way to remove and replace the impeller blades?

You have to disassemble the entire front of the snow blower. This means removing the snow shroud, auger bits and then getting to the impeller blades. I did it once and it took me about 1 1/2 hrs to complete.

My blower is running extra high and hard. so high that it shakes the cap off. how can i tame it down. model 51587

Remove the bottom of the blower or vac and see if any blades are broken on the plastic fan blade, known as an impeller. If a blade is sheared off, this could be the source of your noise and shaking. This part will need to be replaced. I've just ordered one and will be replacing mine when it comes in.
