I need to clear my search history on facebook. can it be done?

If you clear your web browser's search history\cache, your facebook search history will automatically get deleted. I don't think it can be done for just facebook. You can try and contact the facebook admins. They could delete your search history for you.

WANT TO ERASE RECENT SEARCH NAMES

I assume you are talking about recent searches in websites.

This can be done. It is done differently in all browsers though.

Basically it works by going to the browsers options, and choosing privacy, and then clearing browsing history, stored passwords, cache, and recent search history, etc.

for future reference, you may use a browser such as firefox, and enable "private" browsing. This will not record any traces of where you go, or what you do so that other users will not be able to sniff into things which they shouldnt have a part of.

delete history, cookies, and system cache. You can go to tools, options, and set it so it doesn't remember anything.
You can also set ratings and parental limits for each user account as well.

When clicking on the star, the history shows up but..

My Computer > C:\ (System Volume, Boot Volume, Windows) > The Documents and Settings folder > User Name Folder > Local Settings Folder > History.

If the Local Settings Folder is not visible in the UserName Folder you have to enable show hidden files:

While at the folder goto Menu at top Tools > Folder Options > View > Select the radio button for "Show Hidden Files"

If the user is using Firefox, then may have already selected not to save the browsing history, without advanced tools this information is not accessible.

If the user is using Internet Explorer, History will display unless they have selected to save the files for a period of "0" days, newer versions may even have the ability to not save at all.

Check the History folder to be certain.

Good luck.
