Question about Dewalt Drills
MY DEWALT BLINKING BATTERY CHARGER HAS TWO CONTACT POINTS. THE NEW BATTERY OBTAINED FROM AMAZON WILL NOT SLOT INTO MY CHARGER. IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS THREE CONTACT POINTS. WILL I NEED TO PURCHASS A NEW CHARGER? IF SO WHAT MODEL? OR WHERE CAN I GET A BATTERY TO FIT MY OLD CHARGER?
IF your battery is having 3 contacts you are lucky but your charger must have also that 3 contacts because that thirth contact is a deep discharge-protection to warn you if the cells are become to low for DC voltage the switch in the machine -the battery and the loader must all off them 3 contacts to will that worked.
The motor stopped immediately if the voltage is becomming to low .the thirth contact is responsible for the protection.
Batteries are expensive wrong batteries more but there are ways for rebuild the switch and batterie contactplate as first. and after that the charger. it will give a longer freshment of capacity.

have you tried the batterys in any other tool?
you would also need to check the voltage of the batterys they should be at least 18 volts (19 prefered)
then if the batterys do not show charged you would need to make sure the battery charger is putting out voltage.
After that contact your closest Ryobi service center we would check that for free to let you know what you need, I am sure you local place would do the same.

They are to do with the feed back for the PCB in the charger and tell it when to switch it off and also sense the condition/temp of the battery.
