My Genesis 10" sliding compound miter saw doesn't have any power or sould i say it won't start ????Plugged it in and squeeze the trigger and theres nothing .

broken powercable , carbon brush (autostop or to short brushes) or the switch itself or one of the 4 coil (2 for one coil) contacts on the electric field can be broken or a collector on the armature is ruined .
first control only turn by hand the blade a littlebit to check the last option before you connect the wallconnector so it can start because if brushes stands on a defect collector it wont start , if it willm start and sparks replace the armature and maybe also the electricfield and also the drivinggear on the armature in some cases. if only to short brushes replace brushes.

Bosch GSB20 2RE will run perfectly through variable range if tilted over to the right. Tilt it to the left and it is as dead as a door nail.

I was going to tell you to check the power cord by the strain relief. Sounds like you got it.

Hilti TE14. It rotates slowly and i'm getting a burning smell from the area around the armiture?

I would bet the armature is shot for sure and possibly the field. When an armature shorts out it usually gives off excessive sparking from the brush area. When a field fails it will usually run very slow if at all.

I havebeen using a makita 9527 pb 4.5" angle grinder and all the sudden the grinder had troubles working all the time at first it took a little shaking to start up then hitting against a hard surface...

There are various causes of failure but the checks should be carried out in this order, you will need a continuity meter or multimeter to trace continuity from the plug to the switch in the grinder:

If plug is rewireable check for loose screws at plug pin terminals, loose fuses etc.
Wires in power flex breaking, usually at plug or where flex enters machine.Check the continuity from each pin of the plug to the switch in the grinder
Faulty on / off switch or loose spade terminals on switches.
Worn out brushes.
Armature or field coils of motor going open circuit.

Not working

There are various causes of failure but the checks should be carried out in this order, you will probably need a continuity meter or multimeter to trace continuity from the plug to the motor:

Check overload circuit breaker on saw hasn't tripped. This may need a couple of minutes to cool down.
If plug is rewireable check for loose screws at plug pin terminals, loose fuses etc.
Wires in power flex breaking, usually at plug or where flex enters machine.
Faulty on / off switch or loose spade terminals on switches or faulty relay on switch.
Worn out brushes.
Armature or field coils of motor going open circuit.

Table saw model 36-650 suddenly stopped while in use. Checked the power cords, pressed the reset switch on the motor. What are the likely causes of failure?

Dewalt bench saw

All electric motors are set up in the same way. (Please refer to the little schematic I have drawn below.) Different models are wired slightly different and please note that your particular saw may only be able to go in one direction. Also some fields have 4 wires instead of 2, and if this is your case please ignore the rest of this post and bring your saw to a professional to be looked at. If your saw is going the wrong way your motor may be damaged and will need to be replaced or at least tested with the proper equipment. With that said, there should be 2 wires coming from your field. Wires "B" and "C" respectively. One of these should go to your switch, and the other should go to one of the brushes. Wires "A" and "D" are coming from your brushes and as noted above one should be going to the field. Let's assume that wire "A" is directly hooked up to the white wire of the cord. And let's also assume the the black is hooked up to "C" of the field. "B" and "D" should be linked in this setup. In order to reverse the polarity of the motor you would switch the field brush setup. One field wire and brush wire should always be connected to complete the circuit. By changing the "B"-"D" connection to instead be a "C"-"D" connection with "A" still going to the neutral "white" wire and now the "B" wire going to the switch, you have effectively changed the polarity of the motor. ****Please note that some of these saws have an electric brake and should not be rewired in this manner**** Again if your saw just started going the wrong way one day, you should get it looked at by a professional repairer. There may be more problems that have caused this to happen,

Generator starts but does not generate power

  1. Check for any blown fuse and replace. It can be traced directly from the output lines.
  2. Check field excitation. The field excitation is supplied by the battery to the excitation coil through a pair of carbon brushes. If the brushes are worn out, no excitation field is supplied and no output is generated. Replace carbon brush if found worn-out.
  3. Use an analog multitester to check the continuity of the carbon brush and the field coil.

Exesive sparks on the brushes (Bosch GSB 16RE drill)

If you used the drill any amount with a burned field coil there is a good chance that is has burned the new armature out.
