Sounds as if you have not formatted this to ntfs instead of fat32.

My Verbatim AC320GB 320GB USB 2.0 2.5" External Hard Drive has all of my content from my old PC, now that I want to edit its content on my macbook, I am unable to. help!

It depends on which format the drive is using. If it's FAT-32 you can immediately read and write from it with your Mac. However, if the drive is formatted as NTFS you'll need a third party driver or software in order to write to the drive. Your Mac can read from but not write to NTFS.

Your should be able to read the drive.

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
(note after you have loaded the operating system you should go back and change the first boot device to your hard drive)

Hi there , i have an acer travelmate 6592 laptop , the original 80 gig hard drive crashed , and i dont have the recovery disc , the hidden partition wont re install either , i have bought a new 320 gig...

You cannot get the full 320Gb capacity because the BIOS can only support a maximum of 127Gb.
You only hope is a BIOS firmware upgrade that can support 320Gb. Check out the Acer WEB site to see if a BIOS upgrade will solve your problem.
OTHERWISE
Install a 127Gb hard drive in your Acer and put the 320Gb hard drive in an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB hard drive because it is not affected by the BIOS limitation.

I have a Toshiba A45-S121 laptop. I upgraded my hard drive from a 40GB hard drive to a 320GB Western Digital. Loaded Windows XP and formated drive in FPTS format. The computer rebooted to the hard drive...

Best possible solution put back your 40GB and try to get an external casing for your 320GB to see if it works. And try windows on NTFS instead of FPTS, so reformat your 320GB and install the Windows XP again.
I hope this solution is helpful.

is it formatted as NTFS FAT32 file system can only reconize 127 you must enable largr drive in the setup. but if you are using a image it wont give you that choice you will need to get a windows xp disk and use the driver / program disk to install you original software. you can also partition the drive into two particians to separate and it will then reconize the drives then you can mount the othe drive to a folder and then reclain all the drive space.
