SOURCE: LG LCD TV 37LP1D digital freeview tuning problems

Hi - I have the same problem. Also in Cornwall LG were not interested in helping because the TV was 3 1/2 years old. There was a possible fix in the end offered via LG at a cost of £180 + vat - a hardware update that might or might not work but I was not going to pay that so I now watch my LG 42 plasma via a £25 digi box from the CO OP. LG must have sold 1000's of these Tv's so when the digital switch starts in the more populated areas of the country I exect many more web postings.

How can I connect my laptop to my LCD TV through HDMI cable (brand:LG) (model:LF15 series) HD ready?

You'll need to make sure that your laptop & LCD TV have an HDMI port. If they both do, simply connect an HDMI cable from your laptop to your LCD TV and make sure the input on the LCD TV is set to receive A/V from the HDMI port.

What is 1080i and 1080p what cable and HDMI version do I need

So you've got your new Flat Panel Plasma TV and Blu Ray DVD player what cable should you use, am I really 1080p HD Ready ?

So here it is in laymans terms

HDMI
stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface. It's a digital interface to get the best, uncompressed digital picture possible. There are currently five versions that are setup as improvement on the last since its introduction in 2003

The first high defintion TV's were classed as HD Ready only the resolutions were set at 1280x720= 921,600 just under a MegaPixel per frame and were called 720p and are capable of viewing only 1080i signals with the correct cable the latest version is called HD Ready 1080p the HDMI standard for this is HDMI 1.3 which means that unless you have a TV that is rated for HDMI 1.3 your 1080p Blu Ray player wont work in full 1080p there will be no picture and the players HDMI output will have to be reduced to 1080i this can be done in the Blu Ray Players settings so you can still watch the video on your older HD Ready television

1080i vs 1080p - Basically both formats have the same number of Pixels 1920 across the top and 1080 across the side this gives a total number of pixels (1920x1080=2,073,600) aka 2 MegaPixels per frame assuming that the aspect ratio is 16:9 this is the same as a basic digital camera or phone jpeg.

You might also see written like this 1080p24 means that it originated from a progressive scanned 24 frames source and has become an established production standard Cimena and for your Blu Ray player will also have this setting if you require it.

When Compared to standard DVD with and aspect ratio of 4:3 which has 720x576=414,720 this is an increase of 500% in the resolution alone over the now humbled DVD Video format with interlaced video

The difference between the two is that one is interlaced (like normal DVD-Video) and the other is progressive OR non-interlaced scan which means that 1080p requires way more transfer speed than that of the 1080i format.

So the main disadvantage of progressive scan is that it requires higher bandwidth than interlaced video that has the same frame size and vertical refresh rate this is why DVD-Videos incorporate the interaced video due to the lack of a digital inteface like HDMI 1.3 rated cable is required to transfer this higher speed of transmission in contrast the 1080i signal requires a much slower speed and HDMI 1.2 rated cable might work.

As far as interconnects go you can still connect your full 1080p Blu Ray Player to your 1080i Plasma TV using the three cable interconnect that comes with the players but for the best possible connection you need to use a HDMI cable with gold plated connecitons. Prices range from £15 right upto £60 and beyond if you go with Monster Cables however the £15 version if it says rated for Blu Ray it will work just fine so save yourself £40.

HD Ready
----------------

HDMI 1.0 - combines a digital video signal (standard or HD) with a two-channel audio signal over a single cable used with the HD Ready
HDMI 1.1 - This version adds the ability to transfer not only video and two-channel audio over a single cable, but also added the ability to transfer Dolby Digital, DTS, and DVD-Audio surround signals, as well up to 7.1 channels of PCM audio.
HDMI 1.2 - This version adds the ability to transfer Super Audio CD signals in digital form from a player to a receiver most Home Theatre Systems require at least this type of cable for full capabilty however you can use a v1.3a cable works just as well

HD Ready 1080p
--------------------------

HDMI 1.3 and HDMI 1.3a These versions include improvements in both audio and video capability. With the advent of Blu-ray Disc it adds the ability to transfer the digital bitstreams for the new high resolution audio formats in addition to the standard 24-bit color depth we are used to, HDMI 1.3a has the ability to transfer color depths up to 48-bits, and can accommodate resolutions much higher than the 1080p resolution standard that is in use today on all TVs that are HD Ready 1080p

HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 1.4a HDMI version 1.4 adds practical enhancements for HDMI connectivity. If home theater components, such as HDTVs, Blu-ray Disc players, and Home Theater Receiver, the next step in HDMI of the future is covered by the v1.4a cables wrt to speed.

LD4088 LCD will not play sound via HDMI cables. Component cables are fine. Hear a faint "click" from speaker when switching to HDMI input. Have tried all three HDMI connectors and have tried...

This is how AUDIO works in HDMI setup, you can select the source to send the digital audio along with the digital video through HDMI, the receiving end HDMI sound setup must be set to receive the digital audio through HDMI. Otherwise the audio may be sent and received through analog audio ports (Red (Right channel) and White (Left channel) RCA jacks) in stead. Most of the new TV and DVD player use auto detection.
So please check the HDMI audio setup to see how the audio signals are set to be processed.

Please leave rating if it helps.

Problem for Sylvania LC195SLX LCD TV Channels will not program in tv.check with different tv it works

It looks like your TV doesn't have a digital tuner in it. Without that you won't be able to receive any broadcast television stations. The spec sheet is here: LC195SLX the tuner is listed as just ATSC/NTSC - not digital. You will need a cable or satellite box to receive stations.

LC-26DA5U 26 in. HDTV-Ready LCD Television: i connect a hdmi cable 2 my hd cable box - the pic...

The cable box needs to be set to send different signals when using hd tv and standard tv. Usually a good setting would be 720p in hd and 480p in standard. The tv is working fine it is the cable box sending the signal. If you have another hdmi source such as a dvd player you may hook that up to show the tv is working just fine.

Connect my aspire 5332 to my digital tv

There are a few things that need to present or applicable for this to work.

First off you need to have either a HDMI cable that can be plugged into your TV( tv and laptop must have one for this option to work). And you'd need to have the channel on your TV set to which ever channel recieves HDMI input.

Second you could have a monotor cable with two ends to attach to your laptop and TV as well as an audio cable like you get for computer speakers to have a line in and a line out, you may need an adapter for the video, usually with newer tvs like my 25.5" LCD HDTV from Samsung they provided this cable and a adapter. After they are connected you'd still have to set the channel to the correct one for the input to receive a picture from your laptop for example my tv channel for my PC is called DVI and my HDMI connection is HDMI 1

If you dont have either of those then you would need an S video cord and a audio cord with it to connect your output (from laptop) to the input hole (into tv) for this to work. And the channel would have to correctly set again.

If none of these help please post in more detail.

Unable to use PS3 on HD channel

1. Connect PS3 to your TV
2. Select the Correct HDMI input on your TV
3. Press and hold the [power] button on the PS3
4. perform setup.

These are the steps to setup the video output for the PS3, It is possible that it is set to a resolution that your TV does not support.

If this doesn't work, you may want to contact Sanyo to ask if they have some protection circuit for the HDMI input. Some manufactures TV's will deactivate(turn OFF) the HDMI input under certain conditions. Unplugging the TV or some other procedure usually turns it back ON.

Trying to hook compaq presario laptop to philips lcd digital tv

hey fox,
sounds to me like a connection problem. If the compaqs output is vga, you need to convert the input (tv side ) to hdmi, component, s-vidio... what ever you can find. Typically when you hook up your computer to a flat screen or such, its best to try to use the hdmi ports or the rpg. But if thats not available you need to take the outout from your laptop ( whatever type that might be and input it into your flat screen tv. If you input laptop into tv under ( eg..HDMI) then when you VIEW it you need to select the correct source on your flat screen. Such as hdmi or pcmi or rpg.I know that the do sell alot of cables that adapt from one type of connection to another. Typically only one cable is required from the laptop to the flat screen. If you think about it you are only using the flat screen as a monitor.

TV Sound

First lets determine where the sound is missing. What are you using for sound. RCA jacks? HDMI cable? If you are using the HDMI cable, please make sure the correct sound is selected in the Cable box. In New York Cable Box, The HDMI sound has to be selected in order to get sound using the HDMI cable. Hoping that all other settings are ok, You may need a new signal board. Part Number BN94-00629R. Average Cost $176.14
