Is the motor getting hot like boiling over etc or is it just the gauge or light..if not may be a bad gauge or light .if it is it may be your intake or head gaskets,, have someone do a cooling system leakage test..normaly called a radiator test..puts compressed air in in tne radiator that in turn puts more pressure inside the engine and heads it will find a leak due to leaking gaskets...good luck..

I'm having trouble with overheating my 2000 5.9L 4x4 Dodge Durango. I've replaced the thermostat, fan clutch, water pump & still running hot heater core.would flushing cooling system fix my problem

The radiator is most likely plugged. Flushing is the least expensive way to try to fix the problem. It may not clear a severely plugged radiator. Watch the lower radiator hose with the engine running. Accelerate the engine. If the hose tries to collapse, then the radiator is definitely plugged.

i would do a tune up and this should fix your problem, i think the coil packs are around $30 a piece, you can just replace the spark plugs first, then if needed the coil packs. Hope this helped Tim

Overheating 2003 dodge durango. What could be the problem??

When engine running, ensure no engine combustion gas bubbles in coolant resevoir (if so, the head gasket is blown).

Check cooling fans are operating ok (when required when car warms up), if not check
1) fuse,
2) relay operation,
3) heat sensor switch.

Replace thermostat.
When re-filling cooling system, bleed off any airlock as necessary.

Check for collapsing (soft) coolant hose on suction side of waterpump when engine revs above idle.

2000 dodge durango 4.7

two probably thing , you have a pluged radiator or the fan clush is not good, if when you are cruising it doesn' t overheating , but when you stop for 2-5 minuts it does, then is the fan clush, if when cruising it overheating then is the radiator . all this thinking that you checked the cooland level and changed the termostat with the correct oness
