Open the flue. Check to see if the chimney is clogged.

I installed one of these, the manufacturers know that they smell longer than stated in the users instructions "the smell will go after first use they say!" The seals used in manufacture contain oils in them. They say they cannot control how much oil is in the seals, therefore cannot say how long they will take to burn off but admit it could be at least 8 hours or more. The burn off can only be achieved at full rate, Now knowing this, I would suggest anyone thinking of installing one of these should rig it up outside and leave it on full for 2 days before installing it into the home to try and burn off the smell at full as its awful. Do not install it into a fireplace that has not been certified as "O" rated as stated in the installation instructions or you will not get any redress with the manufacturer. seems extreme but this summer 2015 i will be uninstalling this one and "burning it off" fully outside as the attempts indoors are not working. Fire is being used on low after 10 mins on high. It has had several 3 hour at full attempts to burn off - all to no avail. 34 years gas engineer experience!

Strong fumes from new frigidaire gas oven.what should i look for

If it smells like gas Shut the gas off outside call installer, or
gas company. If it doesn't smell like gas, most likely it's the "new smell" caused by the heat. If you have a kitchen vent fan turn it on. If it persists Call the installer or dealer. No action by them? call the mfg customer service number in your owner's manual. It's possible something was left in the oven burner area that shouldn't be there.

Fumes from flavel regent gas fire when burning

This is normal .It should definitely burnt off in a few hours.
Normally the heat exchanger is coated with a corn oil so it wouldn't get damage while sitting in their warehouse for too long.
Normally installer should have burnt it out before it gets blown into space

We also own a 2005 chevrolet impala with strong gas fumes, inside of the car driving or just idling..also fumes are strong when the car is just idlin. Took it to the mechanic and put the car on the rack,...

I would have someone check under the front of car while engine was running. Maybe then a gas leak could be spotted. Did he check the charcoal canister-it's a gas vapor collector from the gas tank, and maybe located at front of car. If the canister is full and not working to purge the canister and send the collected fuel and vapors into the engine, it might be what you are smelling.

Hello, I'm having problems getting a new gas fire fitted in my rental property. I have been quoted at £763. I already have a coal effect gas fire on the wall (no fire place) with a flue and obviously...

Older fires have an exhaust flue and get their air supply from the well ventilated room in which they're fitted. Balanced flue fires are the correct choice for rooms which lack sufficient fresh air ventilation. They have a flue which draws in outside air necessary for combustion whilst also acting as an exhaust for the combustion products. To work the appliance must be completely sealed so that no air is drawn from the room; the pressure of the incoming air and the pressure of the outgoing exhaust is equal so the flue is described as balanced.

The lack of a requirement for fresh air ventilation means that less energy is used; open outside vents let heat out as whilst allowing fresh air to enter.

Balanced flue appliances which exit directly through an exterior wall should cost very little more to fit than a regular appliance: the only additional cost may be in blocking up the old flue outlet and creating a new one but this rarely takes more than half an hour. A sealing collar is fitted to the outside of the flue (included in the flue kit) so there may be additional costs in hiring a ladder (or even erecting scaffolding) if you're higher than the ground floor.

Budget-level balanced flue fires typically cost between £350-£500 and the fitting charge may be fair depending upon your property, but it's also worryingly vague. A properly qualified and experienced gas fitter should be able to give you a precise quote and will already possess all of the tools needed to fit a new flue.

Also, ensure that you have your landlord's written permission to fit the new fire. If you don't then the landlord can claim that you have damaged the property and demand that you restore the property to original condition when you leave. If you get permission then you can also expect your landlord to insist that when you leave the property you do not take the new fire with you and that you supply an original copy of the gas fitter's installation certificate. Without this the landlord is within his/her rights to commission a safety inspection at your expense. Note that subsequent annual gas safety checks are required to be carried out by the landlord at his/her expense as per normal.

look for wet spots or stains on the motor !
alsodust & grime could be hiding a leak or a fracture in a fuel line or it could be a leaking fuel injector
check fiewall for loos ao brocken rubber grommets that pipes & wires pass through that could be allowing fumes into the cabin
cheers Rob.

IMMEDIATELY ISOLATE THE OVEN AND DO NOT USE. GET PLUMBER BACK - HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO CHECK THE APPLIANCE ITSELF FOR LEAKS BUT THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE IS THE JUNCTION OF THE CONNECTION HOSE WITH THE HOB
