Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

My Murphy DV3T TV has a problem with its remote control sensor (I think). I've gone through 3 remotes and they've worked for a while and then stopped. Just bought a new one and it doesn't work at all. Any suggestions?

It sounds like the TV itself has the problem.

SOURCE: vizio remote control not working

Hi, I had the same problem. My vizio remote for my 42 inch 2 month old vizio also seemed to stop working. Here's what I did: My vizio remote (like most remote's nowadays) was designed for multiple components (tv, dvd, vcr, etc). All you need to do to make the remote work again is set it back to tv. Now, the confusing thing about vizio remotes is that they actually have TWO places where you can switch the remote to the appliance you want to control. One is on top of the remote, the other is on the BOTTOM. Switch it back to TV using the BOTTOM. My remote had stopped working because I had inadvently switched it to another component on the BOTTOM component switch.

SOURCE: remote control does not work

The infrared sensor has gone bad. You need to replace it.

Here's a link to the part. I can't stress enough how simple this is to do, especially if you don't have any kind of warranty left.

Tools you will need:

SOURCE: T.V. remote sensor not working

Hello
If you are sure that the fault is with the remote sensor of your TV, replace it with a new one. The remote sensor can be located just behind the remote sensor window at the front panel of the TV. You nave to open the TV to access it. It is a three solder terminal component. It will look somewhat like this, having brownish black in colour. This component can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shopw at your town; very cheap to buy too. OK

Check the remote control handset first; for its infrared emission. Make sure that it works properly. The damage to internal sensor [infrared sensor inside the TV] is very-very rare. Check the remote control for its infra-red emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check by pressing all the buttons on it; and see whether all of it generates infrared signal while pressing. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It has details about how to check a remote control; by one among the post. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ If the remote control is found OK; check and replace the infra-red sensor inside the TV. Contact any service technician.

I have had several technicians at my parents house they have a sanyo pdp42xr9da with remote rcj17oa the remote dosent talk to tv we have had the tv for two years it did work but now dosent please suggest...

Most of the fault in this kind of symptoms is the remote control itself.
To confirm it, aim directly the remote control to your cellphone camera and press any button key at the remote control. While pressing the button key, you will be able to see the flash of the infrared indicating that the remote control is working fine. If you can't see the flash of the infrared this is an indication that the remote control is already faulty.

Remote control

If you've confirmed that the remote control is working fine, then the fault came from the infrared receiver(sensor) of your tv. It needs to check by the qualified technician to isolate the problem.
Feel free to ask question of you need further assistance.

Code required to programe sky remote control for murphy 42884t2lcd

Hello
Three digit remote code with Sky with Murphy TV are:

132 244 191 502 100

Sky+ Remote Control Unit Programming Procedure Follow the steps below

1. Select any channel on the TV.

2. Point your Sky+ remote control away from the TV and press the tv button.

3. Press and hold down the Select and red buttons simultaneously on the Sky+ remote control until the red light at the top of the Sky+ remote control flashes twice.

4. Input the 3 digit number from the Sky+ remote control codes then press the Select button. The red light at the top of the Sky+ remote control should flash twice.

5. Point the Sky+ remote control at the TV and try the volume button.

If this works try the other TV functions.

If these work then the correct code has been selected.

It's important to note that not all TV functions will be supported by the Sky+ remote control e.g. Picture in Picture.
?

If all functions do not work correctly, then repeat steps 1 - 3 and work through all the relevant 3 digit numbers from the Sky+ remote control codes, until you find the code which supports all or as many of the TV functions as possible.
Please note:
In order to operate both your TV and Sky+ with your Sky+ remote control, you will be required to switch modes e.g. to switch on your TV from stand-by, you would need to press TV followed by the "Stand-by" button. Then to change channel on your Sky+ you would need to press the "Sky" button followed by the "TV guide" button.
OK.

The TV does not pick up the sensor from the remote control. The remote control works fine with the other Sony TV. I try to replace the remote sensor on the TV, but I don't know how and where to buy.

Yeah! ... After extensive digging around, I found the service manual at the following location. You have to create an account to get the DL (9.3 Mb) and the site is in Spanish, but the manual is in in English. The remote sensor is on board HC and should be a simple fix:
