Re: Not Printing

Remove your print head and carefully clean it with a Q-tip and a small amount of hand sanitizer. Let dry and replace. It worked for me. Good luck!

I have a f4480 hp printer. Used it about 3 times in last 6 mos. It was not printing with the black ink so I just bought #74 & #75 ink from Staples. Now the yellow light on the front of the printer...

If the ink cartridge in the printer is 6 months old, it maybe dried out and would need to be replaced with a new cartridge. When buying new cartridges from places like Walmart, Target etc. check the dates on the packages before buying. Sometimes the cartridges will set in the store too long and dry out.

I've just replaced the black ink cartridge for my Epson Stylus TX100, ink level is ok as the indicator shows. But i get blank prints for black, other colors are fine. What's wrong with the black ink...

There is nothing wrong with the black ink. Just run the head cleaning for better printing.

1. Go to printer and faxes
2. Right click your printer ( Epson Stylus Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner InkJet)
3. Click printing preferences
4. Click Maintenance Tab
5. Click Head Cleaning
6. Run head cleaning for 5 times then try printing.

My printer is doing the actions of printing but nothing is printing out. I tried cleaning cartiges with alcohol but still is not printing. The cartriges are old.

Your cartridges have dried up. Buy new cartridges. Cartridges don't usually last more than 6 months if they aren't being used.

Black is full, colors are "low", refuses to print anything

If you have a look on this site you will see there are far more reported problems related to Canon than Epson however the choice is yours.

As to your cardridge problem. The Epson status monitor measures the amount of inkshots used by each cart individually. You know they have chips which indicate when the cart is empty and yet you have not bothered looking for a reset programme. Who's fault is that? The manufacture?

Give this a try, make sure to read the instructins before using.

Printer shows ink levels full, but nothing prints...

Yes .. The cartridges can dry up and or nozzles/heads get plugged. I ma not completely familiar with this printer but if it has a cleaning utility use it.

Won't print black ink

I am on my second Photosmart C6180, the first one I had quit printing black ink after 6 months, after hours with the HP help desk, the finally decided to replace the printer. I have now been using the replacement for several months and just this weekend it too quit printing black copying, no printing and no faxing.  I am now shopping for another, not a HP.

Restart after replace ink cartridge

my CX4800 has done the same thing. I ran the utilities dozens of times, replaced every cartridge and it feeds papers the print head moves like it's printing but nothing is imaged on the paper.
Searching the web is my last chance to fix it before i toss this 18 month old printer and never buy an epson again.

First, wouldn't print black, now won't print magenta- all new cartridges!

Unplug machinepowercord. Open printer and take all carts out. Plug in power. Machine demands carts. Put new one in: Replace with original ink carts!. When asked push 1 (yes New cart). If you have used thirdparty carts, there could be a prob due to construticon or ink quality. In case there is no bk after 3x cleaning cycles anymore, the head is clogged: This happens because the filter in front of the nozzels is clogged by pigmented ink. DO USE ONLY DYE INK for all types of brother inkjet machines!!!

Not printing

The printer determines the amount of ink left in the cartridge by counting the number of ink "shots" when printing, head cleaning etc. This information is stored in the "chip" on the cartridge. Thus, it is not an actual measurement of the ink left, but an estimate calculated by subtracting the total shots from the original full ink quantity. This estimate can sometimes be grossly in error, usually due to a cartridge replacement not being carried out correctly. However, for all four cartridges to be suddenly out of ink is odd. The cheapest way to check this out is to buy a chip resetter on e-bay (currently one for sale at £3.25). Reset all your cartridges to "full", and see if the printer will now recognise them as full. If so, you can buy a new set OK. If the printer still says the cartridges are empty, post a new comment to this effect and we can provide further help.
