Have you Tried holding down the power button for thirty seconds and then removed the power cord and taken the battery out of the laptop and then put battery back in and power cord and try turning on laptop. Have you tested power supply pack has Voltage coming out of it with a volt meter . Because if it is faulty the battery on the laptop will go flat and it will never turn on. I am avoiding answering your question because you would need the service manual to remove the motherboard as every laptop has its own specific method in how it is disassembled and it is not something I myself would attempt

Testimonial: "Thanks Brett. I have tried all re elec problems, battery tests full charge, power supply ok, an alternative compatible power supply has been used...all the apparently well known tricks I've been given....no luck. Hence the motherboard. Yes I agree with you, no problem on a desktop, but laptop? Cheaper to buy a new one if you can't repair yourself, given the labour costs in AU. Thanks for your interest."

Buy, and wear an ESD wrist strap, or use your motherboard for a Frisbee. ("Wow! Look at that THING Go!")

Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.
SOME screws look VERY similar to other screws.
Advise DO NOT mix them up!

Make drawings, and notes as you disassemble.
Use a digital camera, or video camera, or at least a phone camera, and GOOD lighting.

You don't need a Soldering Station.
A low wattage soldering iron (25 Watt?), Rosin Core solder, rosin paste flux, paste flux brush, Desoldering Braid. (Solder Wick)

[I will use Desoldering Braid over a Solder Su-cker tool, ANYDAY.

MY ASUS F5VL MOTHERBOARD WON'T TURN ON???

Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help:

Possible causes:
AC adapter failure.
Power jack failure.
Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions:
Test the AC adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

Chances are the motherboard has a hairline crack, it will need to be completely dismantled to inspect the main board. But first remove main battery and power on, next remove one ram memory and test, do the same with the second one, if none of these work the above must be done to address the situation.

ASUS P4S533-E. Question : The system intruded, chassis opened or tempered before. Please check the system. What does it mean?

Some computer-cases have a small switch that is "triggered" when somebody removes a side-panel. The trigger sets a flag on the motherboard, to say "intrusion", i.e., somebody opened the case, possibly removed something (RAM, video-card), or cut some wires.

You need to inspect the computer, to see if the "intruder" did anything to your computer.

Then, you can enter BIOS SETUP mode, and "clear" that flag.

Optionally, you can then "disable" that "chassis intrusion" programming.

My netbook is plugged in to the wall and the charge port but is not showing that its charging. why? and how do i fix it?

1. Test power adapter for output voltage. Bend the power cable in various directions while doing this to be sure that there is no broken conductors in the cable.
2. If power adapter is Ok, connect it & see if the power LED on the laptop will glow when you jiggle the power connector in various directions. If yes, then the DC jack might be loose or damaged, & need to be either re-soldered or replaced.
3. If not, then disassemble the laptop. Remove any components that attach to the laptop's motherboard first (e.g. battery, hard drive, RAM, wireless card, optical drive, ... etc.)
4. Next, remove the keyboard & the LCD screen.
5. Finally, unscrew all screws that hold the upper cover & lower cover together so that you could gain access to the motherboard.
6. Inspect the solder points connecting the DC jack to the motherboard. Make sure that none of them is loose. If any, re-solder them.
7. Inspect the center pin in the DC jack. Make sure that it is not broken or loose. If it is, then you might need to replace the DC jack.
8. When you are done, re-assemble back the laptop.

We have a loud whistle whinning sound in our caterpillar diesel. How can we tell if the turbo is bad or just a leak.

First I would inspect all Charge air piping and hoses. inspect the charge air cooler for damage and obvious cracks.

we would pressure test the charge air system with the special test equipment.

As for the Turbocharger Remove the air inlet and check the compressor wheel for damage, also grab the shaft and test for thrust (side to side) play, some up and down play is ok as long as the wheel does not touch the sides.
the Exhaust side is more difficult to check but if nothing is found during the cooler checks it may be necessary to remove the wxhaust pipe and inspect the Turbine wheel.
