The defrost timer motor is not available as a separate part. Replace the entire defrost timer assembly (part #482493) - located in the control assembly in the top of the refrigerator compartment.

My whirlpool 472/r,freezer working but fridge not,any ideas, thanks

You either have an iced up evaporator coil (found in freezer) due to a failure in the defrost system: evaporator defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or a failed evaporator fan motor.

My Whirlpool Refrigerator/Freezer Model #GR2FHTXVQ00 or GR2FHTXVO00 is not keeping food cold. Food is spoiling. Freezer is cold but Refrigerator is warm.

With signs of freezing up in freezer area that would indicate a problem with the defrost components. The most likely reason would be a defrost control board. 2304093 Defrost Control Board
Here is a link to a parts manual for your model=> GR2FHTXVQ00.pdf(1101.27 KB) Look on page 3 and part location 4 That is the=> 2304093 Defrost Control BoardThe next possible parts are the 2314157 Defrost Heater Assembly found as item location 4 on page 9 of the PDF. It may be a good idea to change the defrost thermostat=> 2321800 Defrost Thermostat found on page 3 with item location 28. If you have questions please let me know, Thanks John TrippAppliance 911

You had whirlpool work on it and a day later its not working. Whirlpool should provide a guarantee with their repair work. Tell them the repair has caused a new problem and ask them to come back and fix their repair because the work they did was not adequate.

I can't find the wiring diagram for my whirlpool refridgerator.... MOD.#ET19RKXFN01 SER.#EG3222178. Can you please help. I need to change the defrost timer.....Thanks

I will try to locate a wiring diagram for your model ET19RKXFN01 but to change the defrost timer you will only need to know its location. Here is a link to the repair parts=> ET19RKXFN01_Repair_Parts_List
Go to page 5 of the repair parts list and you will see item number 4 Then on page 6 of the parts list you will see the timer part number beside the item 4. That is your defrost timer part number 2193084 Defrost Timer

Your refrigerator is an older model and may have the wiring digram in a packet behind the kick plate in the front near floor. Changing the defrost timer will not require use of a wiring diagram. Simply remove the old timer and replace the new defrost timer by plugging it into the wiring harness. The defrost timer can be found behind the control panel inside the fresh food compartment where the controls are located above the top shelf. If you have questions just let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

My 2 year old whirlpool refrig. is warm but freezer is working. Some fros build up in freezer too but vents aren't blocked/

Your problem is one or more parts of the defrost system is malfunctioned and in return your problem arises. There are three parts to the system, the defrost timer or in some cases control board, defrost thermostat also known as a bi-metal, and the defrost heater. The defrost system is set up to operate as so. The defrost timer or control board will turn the machine off, in some cases every 8 hours, some 12. During this time period the defrost heaters, located behind the freezer wall and rest underneath the evaporator, yet wires to them run up the side of it, are energized and emit heat that raises upward to melt the ice that has formed on the evaporator coils. The bi-metal or defrost thermostat is at the top of the evaporator. When the heat from the heater starts to reach the bi-metal, it breaks the circuit turning the heater off. The whole purpose of this is because the freezer cool the refridgerator side by drawing air across the coils and blowing to the other side via the evap fan motor. In my opinion, if you change one part of the defrost system change them all because usually when one part fails another will follow, so save yourself the time and the food loss, the cost difference is minute.

You'll need the model number more so than the serial number.

My whirlpool energy star upright freezer just stopped working and thawed down everything. When I got it to turn on...don't know how I did that either...but the alarm sounded and it took a while to stop...

It could be having a defrost component break down. The defrost component is most likely the defrost termination thermostat. of course the heater could be bad too. If all of that is good then you could simply have a bad evaporation fan motor. If that turn out to be ok then look for a bad relay on that compressor or a bad fan motor near that compressor.
